I've seen lots of cool pics of minis hiding behind or standing on top of boulders. How do people make those? Do they sculpt them out of cork? Or just buy them like that and just paint over them? And speaking of paints, which Citadel paints would be required to get a nice, earthy tone? Thanks in advance!

You can make them out of foamcore, styrofoam, green stuff, or even cotton balls soaked in superglue. You can also just use regular old rocks from outside. Cork can be a better material if you need to pin a heavy model on top of it, though.

Whatever the material you use, it needs to be painted, even rocks. And as far as paints, there's no ultimate paint for making the best boulders. Boulders are almost never just a single color. They have various striations of rock in them, as well as lichens and various funk across their surface.

Done all of the above. Even have one little guy who's sitting on a small piece of one of Saddam's bunkers from Al Taqaddum.
