I've been debating how to do the camo cloaks on my SM Sniper Scouts and I think I've come up with a decent solution.

I've decided to use the Citadel Texture Astrogranite paint for the color of them cloaks, then use a mixture of a black wash/shade and various gray tones for the dry-brushing. This way the cloaks will blend into the basing I plan to do as well.

Has anybody else used the Citadel Texture paints in this way before?

Maybe its just my pot, but the only texture paint ive used with success is the brown cracking earth. My astrogranite is just thick grey paint.

Well do you think the Citadel Technical Agrellan Earth would work as camo cloak treatment? That way it could go hand and hand with the basing.

I don't think that'd work.

Spoiler:

See his base? That's a texture paint. I think we can assume all Texture paints are like that (I've got Astrogranite, too - it's a bit thinner, but still like that).

Agrellan Earth won't really work, I think, since it makes all those cracks, and does nothing else.

Looks like it's back to the drawing board then....

Just really looking for a way to have the cloaks tie back into the basing. I imagine that if the snipers were lying prone they'd blend right into the terrain because of the cloaks.

The Astrogranite may work, though I'm not so sure. Perhaps test it on a spare cloak or something, first?

As far as I'm aware the other texture paints are too thick.

Test it on something. Texture paints I've got have some grit to them, not to the extent that base was done though. You don't normally go that thick...In fact you go to a similar thickness as normal paint. I like your idea, I'm stealing it when I get to my camo cloaks honestly.

I'll be doing my test runs this weekend. I'll try to snap some photos as I work on it. It just sounds so good in my head, let's hope is works outside of my head as well.

That pot is as thick as that for me...
