Was not sure if this is the right forum if an admin has to move it please do. Hello gentlemen. Was just hoping to get some help as last night my car was broken into and my beautiful painted IG army by Frontline Gaming was taken. Only my flyers were spared but over 500 guardsmen and serveral tanks in a 720 Battlefoam case and two Pack Pluses are now in the wind. Just trying to get some feelers out there in case anyone sees someone trying to pawn them or see them online. Thank you for your help.

Damn, this is always nasty when it happens.
I hope that you get your army back and I shall be keeping an eye open on the usual trade locations (Ebay, etc)

Good luck

D: Is nothing sacred?!

Seriously though, I hate thieves, and sorta wish we had the ol' lop off the hand rule.

Did it get taken because they just cleaned out everything without looking, or did they specifically snag the army cases?

Some people commit murders, some people commit robbery, and some people steal hordes of expensive plastic soldiers.

Somehow I feel that the last on that list might be the most socially disturbed.

Just the Battlefoam case and a shoulder bag that I kept all my rule books in. Sad thing is that I work a night shift so they had to steal it during the day when I was alseep. Only 2 ways in and out of my apartment complex so hopefully someone will come forward saying they saw something.

A few ideas:

1) Go check around the local bins - most of the time people steal BF cases because they think there are laptops, DSLR cameras or (in the case of the USA) guns inside. When they find little toys they oft just dump what they stole.

2) Check local stores - include toy shops and geeky shops not just the model shop. Sometimes they'll try and trade the army in if they've got half an idea of what they've stolen. If you can contact stores in the next town over as well as they might try to be smart by taking a short trip out of town.

3) Ebay and internet (heh you're already doing this ^).

Good luck in tracking your army down and I hope you can get it back!

Yeah a friend gave me a hand and we checked some dumpsters around my place but no luck. Like you said the thieves probably hoping for computer stuff instead of little plastic men. Also been on Facebook since I’m part of a bunch of stores 40k groups around the area and have been posting on their walls as well just in case some does try to sell them locally.

Hard part is when filling a police report and trying to explain what was stolen and why it cost so much. Right now just trying to tally how much was approximately was stolen and so far it’s about $3500 not counting how much it cost me to have it painted over the years.

Damn that's a real bummer. I really hope you can get them back, and while there's not much I can do, I will try to keep an eye out on eBay and the like.

Good luck finding them.

It really breaks my heart seeing such a large and well built and well painted army stolen.

Panzer1944, I wish you all the best in reacquiring your lost property and hope it can be found safe and unharmed.

It might be worth checking your area's Craigslist to see if the army appears on there.

I am no expert in insurance claims, nor do I wish to give you false hope, but you should check with you homeowner's insurance policy and see if they can financially compensate you if the collection is not recovered.

My experience with this type of insurance claim isn't firsthand, nor is it specifically with miniatures, but a very close friend of mine has had musical equipment and instruments stolen from his vehicle multiple times. Sometimes the theft occurred while parked in front of his house and sometimes while parked at an unrelated business ( he's a musician).

Each time, he was able to file a claim under his homeowner's insurance. I think his renter's insurance even covered another theft from his car when he was in college.

It is little consolation for losing such a wonderful collection, but at least it is some form of consolation.

What he said. Call your car insurance company first, if they can't help you, check with homeowners.

A friend of mine had a guitar and a case of miniatures stolen from his car back in the 90s. He called his car insurance company and was able to get a check to cover part of the losses.

Going to be giving my agent a call on Monday morning since this happened on a Friday and he had off on the weekend. Printed out a bunch of pages from the GW site to show the pricing and stuff as well as a few e-bay items to show how much a fully painted army could go for. Even if I can get half of it at least that could allow me to buy back the models and then see what I go do about getting them painted again.

I had a ton of Magic cards stolen from my cards a few years back. The insurance adjuster never double checked the values of the cards that I gave him (they totaled about $5000), but I told him they were used in tournaments, for which there were prizes, and so they only gave me 50% value as it was considered that I had used them to make a profit (not true at all, of course), so maybe be careful about what you cop to with the insurance guy.

Sorry for your loss, I thought I had lost my army once after a guy put it in his trunk at a tourney and I was fething gutted.

Ah but I loathe thieving bastards....

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

The ironic thing is, if the thief doesn't know what they are will toss them, not realizing they are worth thousands to the right person. So they are worth more than the electronics or gun the thief thought they were.

Lesson learned lock them in the trunk or don't leave in the car

If your army was painted by Frontline Gaming, the invoice or quote they gave you for the work would also be helpful. If they purchased the models for you as well, give the invoice for the whole thing.

I had to wait a few days because when I went to get the police report for the insurance company they put the address of my friend’s apartment I was crashing at (watching his pets while he’s out of the town) that day instead of my home address. So had to wait two days until the officer who took the report was back on duty to have it changed on the offical report. Just got a hold of him this morning so will hopefully be able to turn in all my forms tomorrow and then play the waiting game.
