Ok...quick list idea I am thinking of trying out today. I'll be leaving for the store in less than an hour and would like to hear thoughts quick please.
The idea is Necron Tournament play at 2000 points.
Aegis Defense Lines with Quad Gun manned by 20 Warriors with Lord with Rez Orb and Illuminor Szeras
2 x 20 Warriors with Lord with Rez Orb
10 Lychguard with Hyperphase Swords and Dispersion Shields with Lord with Rez Orb/Hyperphase Sword/Mindshackel Scarabs, Harbinger of Eternity, Trazyn The Infinite in a Night Scythe (total cost 1992)

Im guessing this army is based on what you have, because for a 2k necron list it lacks A LOT of the basics that make necrons so scary. No A barges, no scythes, no hfh.

I like the bodies on the field but i honestly see this getting swept away in 2k comp play. Especially if there is double force org.

Table's were all full so I never go to try it.

New list though, similar idea:

(actually planning this list to buy the models) I think you will like this one better

Aegis Defense Line with Quad Gun, 10 Warriors, and Illuminor Szeras
Trazyn The Infinite with Eternity Tek, Lord (Orb, Scarabs, Sword), and 10 Lychguard (Shield and Sword)
2 units of 10 Warriors in Night Scythes
3 units of 10 Warriors
1 Annihilation Barge (Tesla Build)

Actually, I preferred the first build.

3 blobs of 20 warriors with orb support is plain nasty. Would be even nastier if you threw a GA in there. The main concern will be assault and sweeping advance. So, in your first build, I'd be more comfortable with ditching 5 lych and replacing with scarab tarpits. Also, do you really need Trazyn?

The second list is suffers from having units of 10 warriors. I generally find them inefficient. They aren't big enough to survive concentrated shooting, and too big to just sit on objectives.

I personally think 10 warriors in a nightscythe is hugely wasteful. Mainly because you don't really want them to get out until the end, in which case you only need 5. If you are going to get them out, start them on the board so you can shoot T1. Immortals, maybe, cos they can weather the beating they get from being forward deployed a little better.

In your second list, I'd suggest you either blob up, or trim down and add crypteks to give each warrior unit a little punch and a bit more survivability.

Get 2 Anni barges. You can always use 1 for a CCB, but generally 2 Anni barges give you a firebase which mean you can do almost anything you want with the rest of a list...(with some restrictions ) depending on how competitive you want it to be.

the lychguards are really expensive though, considering they are 45 pts. per model. you should get doomsday arks. They can drop large blasts anywhere on the board as long as you don't move them and they have AP 1 when stationary.

I would not recommend the doomsday ark, when the anni. barge is drastically better. The doomsday ark is nice with the large blast, but with how its mounted it only has a narrow firing arc and it's a skimmer which gives it the great jink ability, but by jinking the gun because much worse and without jinking there is no save against a penetrating hit. Where as the anni. barge can move fire both weapons and still get the jink, without loss of gun strength

The easiest way to remove a blob will be through assault and a sweeping advance. So I think you need to have a unit which can do counter assault or tarpit.

The lychguard are expensive but fill that role in your list. DA won't.

As a long time necron player it's your funeral if you want to take lychgaurd to a tournament with competitive lists. For a friendly game it's one thing. They are one of the worst units in the codex, particularly with the hyperphase sword dispersion sheild combo. They don't have the initiative to be a good assaulting unit, nor the toughness or wounds or save to actually get into cc. I would almost rather see flayed ones.

A lot of truth in that statement.

The entire list is, however, comparatively unique for any tournament. 3 x 20 strong blobs with orb support plus scoring (due to Trazyn) Lychguard is certainly an interesting concept. It takes a lot of shooting to put down (and keep down) a 20 man blob. The main weakness I can see is CC. It isn't that hard to lose the entire blob in a CC, thanks to the I2.

Any list with an FMC (hell, most MC or any T6 model actually) if it can get to the blob (surviving the shooting and overwatch) has a fairly good chance of sweeping it. That's why I suggested some scarabs earlier - just small units as tarpits.

In the original list if you were keeping the Lych, I'd probably split the lych into 2x5 and put Trazyn and 5 into the NS for a late game drop. However, that's not an insignificant level of points stooging around doing nothing.

If I had enough warrior models, I'd try it and see what happens. Horde Necrons ftw!

I know this is anecdotal - but I had a squad of fifteen warriors swept by a single techmarine. I try to keep my warriors out of combat. Wraiths are better than Lychguards.

That doesn't surprise me. Single models with 2+ saves are a pita because the crons can't get enough attacks in and not enough wounds to stick.

I lost a blob to a pair of terminators....granted the boxcars on the test didn't help. My blobs, if they die, always die to CC. I don't think I've lost a blob to shooting yet.
