hi everyone

i had a mad thought for the new epic rules for X wing

300pts of Tie fighters in 1 swarm that could be 24 or 25 basic Tie fighters

would this be possible?

i throw it out there......

Even with the larger playing field I would think that there would be issues in maneuvering that many fighters. Between the asteroids, your fighters and your opponents ships things wold get nasty. Not to mention I can see Ion Cannons giving a fleet like that fits.

Epic rules have a limit of 12 or 8 in team games of any 1 type of small base ship to prevent fighter spamming. Large ships are limited 6/4.

Don't epic rules also limit you to a single ship that has special characters in it? Blah. I don't like that. I mean, I guess you need your victims and stuff, but Star Wars is built around named characters. It's not actually very "cinematic" (

) to just go with a bunch of nameless characters. I want to be able to fly Han in a MF, Luke, Wedge and Biggs backing him up vs Vader, Mauler, Howlrunner and the other baddies and have a Death Star run. Of course there will be nameless guys. But I want a bunch of named guys. I have a feeling, when playing casual epic with friends, we'll ignore the 1 character rule.

I thought it was a single one per TYPE of ship.

It's funny because I'm the complete opposite; I want to create my own characters and make them shine. Han, Vader, Luke, Wedge, they get enough screen time. Don't want to add to their 'glory'.

There is no such limit.

In Team Epic Play you can have only one Special Character per team, so only one Wedge, Han, etc for both players.

If it were possible, then I suspect that the meta would rapidly shift to wide-spread use of Assault Missiles.

As others have noted, having so many fighters on the table would cause traffic control issues. And you wouldn't have room to spread out if your opponent suddenly revealed that his list was composed of nothing but A-Wings and Assault Missiles.
