Does the Jetseer Council use singing spears for the whole squad or do they stick to witchblades?

Most people go with spears.

Everyone having a lascannon shot is very tasty.

5 points for an extra throw...yup.

The only time you really see swords on any seer is when points are tight or when they're on foot/not in a place to use a spear...like my vaul's wrath warlock.

So?

It's dirt cheap and since you can take pistols with them now you're hardly losing out on anything.

Plus, 12 S9 shots tends to crack open most tanks like piñatas.

He just wanted to clarify that it didn't destroy armor saves...

Still worth 5 pts...by a lot...but don't forget you have the TL catapults!

You don't need a spear on every single model, but if you can afford then take them.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I would only think spears are useful against flyers, since catapults murder anything with a T value and you can multi assault tanks/walkers only thing left is flyers.

My council is 2 seers and 6 warlocks. Both seers have spears, and half ym warlocks do. I actually don't find myself using them all that often.

Generally a waste of points. The idea of a seer council is to multi charge units and keep them in combat till you hit and run the next turn. Blasting your target with a volley of S9 isn't a good way of leaving anything to charge.

You're running a seer council, you're spending a fortune already. Save points and get something to score with.

I wouldn't say a waste of points. A few of them are really handy to get a bit more firepower in the unit. Definitely worth it to pop a transport, then charge the contents in the same turn.

Ah well I only play full on eldar with no allies so no hit and run for me. I want them to survive the first round but die out in the second. Everything having fleshbane shouldn't be that hard.

By no means an Eldar expert, but can't you take a bare Autarch and give him Hit and Run with Exarch powers. Then put him on an Eldar Bike?

You can, but the wargear item that does this also removes the Independent Character status of the model. Therefore he can not join the Council and give them Hit and Run. However, that build is used for sniping characters via challenges.

The item is Mantle of the Laughing Gods. I don't think the Autarch can get an Exarch power that gives him Hit and Run.

They definitely cannot. Without allies, you'd need to be playing Double FOC for the council to be viable.

That said, i've not playing a game without The Baron before...

Baron Sathonyx - Dark Eldar Character

No model currently exists for him.

He's Jump Infantry has a shadowfield, assault and defensive greandes, H&R, stealth and some other tricks.

All for a very low points cost, all things considered.

Avoid tarpits like the plague. Without the Baron, they will hold you down.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

Consider going shining spears instead of warlocks if you don't want DE, their exarch can take H&R and they arn't bad VS anything AS 3+, and they cost half as much as a warlock on bike.

They also don't give you protect and enhance which lets you hit harder and makes you immune to 3+ ignores cover weapons or shrouded to make you get your super good cover save for just moving. They are also less effective against vehicles.

True they only have a 3+ AS and 4+ cover normally, they can have a 2+ cover if they turbo boost, and Vs AV they are OK, with doom they can take out land raiders with a few 6s.

But as I have stated, they have H&R and are half the cost with Ap3 weapons.

Screaming Shining Spear

Shining Spears are great, I use them all the time as a multi-purpose CC threat. Recently, I used them as a cheap deathstar with Baron, Farseer and Autarch. Works with 2 Farseers as well, maybe even better, but I usually don't play cutthroat competitive, so I often refuse Fortune altogether, especially against substantially weaker armies.

The loudout I use is around 600 points for 9 Spears, Exarch, Autarch, Farseer and Baron. Maxed out council is over 900 points, so my deathstar gives me much more leeway in the support section. My list is also far from auto-lose if going up against a D weapon.

Might want to wait and look at the new core rules before going and buying a lot of new models. The new dispel mechanics could make seer star weak-sauce and then you'd feel pretty stupid.

WHAAA, S9 ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME.

But seriously. 12 S9AP- shots out of ONE unit is nothing to sniff at. You're silly to think otherwise.
