Blood Angel Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

Hey Dakka!
So here's my problem. I've been playing blood angels since the end of 5th edition so I got stuck in sixth, but I still play them. Well with 7th edition coming around the corner and I have 5000 points built up on blood angels. I have decided to build a second army army just a side thing. Well my problem is that I have to many armies in mind to start so I'm asking the people of dakka to help me out.

Armies in mind:
Raven Guard
Space Wolves
Necrons
Dark Eldar
Eldar
CSM(nurgle/korne mix)

But that's about it. I'd like to know everyone's opinion and thanks!

If you're currently undecided and plan to use the 7th edition rules (whatever they may be), then I'd recommend just waiting until you learn how the new edition will affect the armies you're looking at, and proceed accordingly.

It's YOUR choice really. We can't choose for you.

What I do for choosing armies is:

1) Decide if its visual or tactical - normally army choices boil down to these two core elements, one being dominant and the other being lesser:

a) When its a Visual choice (ie the appearance of the army and models) I find a good way is to head over to the GW website. Then open up a tab for each unit in a specific army you've got on the list. Open up every model in the range. Then close every tab of models that you don't like the look of.

Repeat for all the other armies - in the end you'll get a rough idea of what army has the majority of models that you like the appearance of. It can give you some idea at least.

Another good point is to go through army lists on Dakka and ot her websites; get a feel for how the armies work and what is and isn't popular. Nothing worse than loving a specific few units only to find that they are only usable in small or loan numbers (similarly nothing worse than finding that the bulk of an army is lots of core troops you dislike).

b) Tactically - go to the local GW store and spend some time reading the codex for each army; read the forums and tactics sections for the armies; generally get to really know how each one plays.
From there you've armed yourself with a theory understanding of how the armies work and you can better judge which one might well suit the style of gaming you want.

In the end you've got to do the legwork and make the choice yourself. What "I'd" choose in your situation shouldn't be important at alll.

Pick the one you are most excited by. There's really no other way to pick an army. I find if you pick it due to anything else you'll quickly become bored of it.

You have 5000 pts of Blood Angels?
Well then you clearly need some Necrons.
That way you can also cross the two armies over run them as allies if you like.

What are you looking for in an army? Why do you have these particular ones in mind?

Raven Guard: they're stealth based which I thought was awesome
Space Wolves: I have fought against space wolves and thought they were pretty cool with unit types
Dark Eldar: I get that they're squishy but I'm big on close quarters and again I thought some of there unit types were cool looking
CSM korne/nurgle: I wanted this to be my first army and I've always wanted to make it. To me it seems like an army with good offense and defense.
Eldar: I was thinking about running a fast army with them
Necrons: rezing robots with crazy guns yeah...

Well the one problem I have with building that army is one of the only two other guys in my town that plays 40k is building that army now so that's why I haven't built it.
