Hey all.

Had a battle last night and we ran into an odd issue with different size bases.

Had a mate running throgg in a unit of chaos warriors, the warriors where bumbed down to I4 from a melkoths.

Now the way it went was throgg and the warriors hit the zombies, he charged so said zombies would also be coping throgg, so there was a couple of warriors floating out to the zombies right hand side, they didn't wipe them, so I proceeded to hit the side with throgg on it with some blood knights.

They wounded throgg, and my made made the sort of 'uneven rank pile to the flank' move that it shoes in the book, now the question is, does this still occur when you've got mismatched base sizes? Then the next question is this.

Killed throgg the next round (he reformed so front was at the knights (it looked similar to this set up, with some guys behind throgg, I killed throgg (the warriors where at I4 again)). Now would the warriors behind Throgg (in relation to the blood knights) get to move up to attack, or should they not of been behind throgg and should of been behind their friends that where facing the Blood Knights?

Sorry if it seems flakily written, got no other way to describe it, I've made a picture, hopefully it helps.

thanks in advance,

In this case, he cannot move Warriors to the flank "behind Throgg" due to mismatched bases, but they can still swing at you over the gap
It works just as when you charge the rear of a unit with uneven ranks
Once Throgg dies, the unit against which you were engaged is still a legal target, so you're still engaged against them and you have to get back in base to base against them (rolling off to see what side combat reforms first)

If he was engaged on multiple facings, he couldn't reform to face the knights to begin with.

Otherwise, when Throgg died, just clean up the unit into a more "normal" formation. As to attacking after, if those models had not yet attacked because they had not reached their initiative step, yes they could attack.

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.

Throgg is on a mismatched base.
If he joins the unit, he sits on the outside edge, and the warriors cannot rank up behind him.
If he doesn't join the unit, the warriors cannot rank up behind him.

If he is not joined, then the warriors could combat reform, as they are not engaged with the blood knights.
If he was joined, the warriors could NOT combat reform as you may not combat reform if you are engaged on more than one side.

Hope that helps.
