I am not sure .
In ED codex, there is nothing about preventing charging in the same turn when you use the warp jump generator.

Thank you .

You have answered your own question.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

The better question is why not shoot with them, and keep on shooting. Iirc warp spiders are in fact, better killers with their guns?

Sometimes getting into combat will keep them safe plus mop up the unit they shot.

Not often, mind you, but sometimes.

pretty sure they're rapid fire weapons, so no charging?

they also have battlefocus, IIRC, so can warp jump, shoot then run, then i believe they can even do another move in assault, though that might have been an opponent cheating.

they are jet pack infantry, so they have relentless

they are jet pack infantry, but cannot choose to use both the rules for jet pack infantry (JSJ) and make a warp jump. It's either or

they have battle focus and fleet and hit and run, so they can do one of four moves:

edit: nevermind, see posts below

1) The "get into range move": move 6+2D6", run re-rollable D6", fire

2) The "flexi-move": move 6", run re-rollable D6", fire, and do the standard 2D6" jetpack move in the assault phase to get out of counter charge range

3) The "shoot and charge" move: move 6+2D6", fire, and charge re-rollable 2D6"

4) The "get the hell out of here move": move 6", fire, run re-rollable D6", and do the standard 2D6" jetpack move

so all in all your warp spiders have an average movement range of 16" to get to range with their guns, or 12" movement and 6" fall back, or 20" aggressive movement with the intent to shoot and charge

I recently played against an eldar opponent who warp jumped 6+2d6, shot, ran re-rollable d6, assault moved 2d6. Can you clarify why that was illegal? Is it in the warp jump rule somewhere?

Probably is a Restriction preventing the Assault Move being used in the same turn as a Warp-Jump?

correct.

The rules for the Warp jump generator in the Eldar codex' wargear section specifically states that models wearing a WJG gain the jetpack unit type (and with it, relentless), but in (read: beginning) the movement phase a unit with WJGs can *either* choose to move as a normal jetpack unit, *or* use their WJGs to make a warp jump (6+2D6" movement)

So if you use it to make the Warp Jump move, you cannot use the jetpack's special move during the assault phase.

That only changes how they move in the Movement Phase, it doesn't stop them being Jet Infantry (otherwise they'd lose Relentless and Bulky). "Normal" Jet Infantry (BRB page 47) can choose whether to use their Jet Pack in the Movement Phase or not and it does not affect their ability to make a Thrust Move in the Assault Phase.

Given there is a negative to evoking the Rule, it is plausible the Authors intended for the Jump-Move Thrust-Move to be possible.

Sir Arun - how they choose to move in the movement phas has no bearing on their unit type, which remains jet pack. As such they CAN do the assault move no matter what type of movement They chose beforehand,

huh. youre right. I subconsciously read the entry analogous to the rules for jump units in that they could either use it in the movement or assault phase.
