Everyone experienced in 40k knows that unbound is gonna have some shenanigans
I'm actually quite open to the idea, as I can see a lot of really cool armies born out of this format.
I think there's gonna be some pretty cool Battle-forged armies as well, I hope gw will be creative. What if there were more than one Battle-forged formats for each army? What if there are combined Battle-Forged armies?
I digress
Unbound might be much better than Battle-forged
What kind of special rules do bound armies need to compete against unbound effectively?

There's two we already know about. Battle-Forged troops claim any contested objective over an Unbound troops choice, which is pretty major when you think about it, essentially meaning that against an Unbound army, your troops auto-score if they're in range.

Battle-Forged armies can also re-roll Warlord traits, which is less good, but still a plus.

These special rules for building your army a certain way would have to be pretty substantial to combat some the possible broken unbound lists proposed so far (assuming there is no restrictions for unbound armies) and hopfully these special rules would also combat may of the current deathstar lists as well. I know wish in one hand "blank" in the other.

I suspect we'll find out that Unbound is not as unbound as we think. Sure the FOC is gone, but no word about unit requirements being out. So no bringing one of the 8 without Farsight, no Royal Courts without an Overlord or no dedicated transports without a unit to select them and so on may still apply.

We also don't know how allies are going to shake out. I suspect that Battle Brothers are going to take a hit, probably in the ability to join ICs to units not from their codex. This is probably going to have a bigger impact on Unbound versus Battle-Forged armies.

I am sure there will be other surprises too, like revised access to data slates/formations that favour Battle Forged armies.

I'm not sure if I read it right, but it looked like on the page you could actually take a battleforged primary and an unbound ally.

It gives the FOC for the primary and lists the two rules. Next to it is the ally section and it's rule for objective secured. So I'm wondering if that's a possibility.

Two farseers on jetbikes with several jetbike squads for last minute objective theft/denial. Then bring an unbound allied detachment of Riptides.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Only Battle-Forged armies can take LoW choices. I doubt they'd do it so they can sell you that Revenant Titan with all of those Leman Russ tanks but one can wish.
