This isn't a poll asking whether you think GW will sell it to us as such - they've made it pretty clear they're going for the whole "new edition" thing.
So, from what we've seen so far, what's the consensus on Dakka?
We have new mission, but also older ones. Some rules, from what we've seen, seem similar, so I'm going for a 6.5.

The addition of a psychic phase, the variation in force organization, demon-summoning, and the changes in objectives suggest this is indeed a full new edition. I'd actually say the changes are more dramatic than some past editions.

With Psychic phase, battleforged and unbound, it has only a littler less changes than 5th to 6th edition.

Warp charges and daemonolgy are definitely new aspects of the game so that it looks like a ''new'' edition.

Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men.
Welcome to Fantasy 40k
If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.
Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

It's a White Dwarf update. It also betrays Games Workshop's brilliant marketing strategy - take the core tenets from the product that doesn't sell and apply them to the product that does sell, making it not sell. Truly, British genius at work.

An expensive mistake (6th edition) followed by an expensive attempt at a solution (7th edition) that could very well swing it to another extreme - let's wait and see what the new rag has writ upon it

It's not out yet. Can't really say before I've read it.
The only thing that I can give is an expectation; it sounds like 6.5 Ed, but we need to stay in our pants to see it in reality.

From where I'm sitting it looks a bit like 2nd edition mk2... I mean prominent uber-heroes and a separatepsychic phase, you'll be telling me next it has a templates phase as well, and your army is just to make up the points, while Mephiston massacres the rest of your enemy single handed (I jest. Its probably 7th)

It is as much a new Edition as 4th, 5th, and 6th were new Editions. None of them totally broke with the old.
So it's either 7th Edition, or it is Edition 3.4.
Calling it 6.5. sounds dumb, because the changes are easily more significant than, say, the changes from 3rd to 4th.
