Boosting Black Templar Biker

Hey guys, was talking about HE's in general, and started wandering how viable Dragons were in the current edition; and I say Dragons because I am seriously thinking multiples with Phoenix and Pigeon support (including the Pigeon Bolt Thrower Chariot thing).

I like the idea of the Dragon Mage; as well as the inevitable Prince + Dragon + Star Lance build. Chances are that this type of list isn't viable, but I want to know what other people think about the Elven creatures in general. I'm loving (and hating because I face it) the Flamespyre Phoenix, and I really really really want a good excuse to buy all the Dragons.

Any thoughts are welcome, even if its to point out my insanity for wanting to field such an army

Dragons aren't that good. Ridden monsters aren't that good.

The issue is template weapons (Particularly cannons) hit both the rider AND the monster. So one lucky shot will bring both down or at least kill the rider.

You can run them & it's not super terrible, just be careful with positioning.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

What I like more than the dragon is the Anointed on the Phoenix.
Buy enchanted shield, dawnstone, and crown of command; then pick up any ~30 point weapon.
It gives you a guy with a 2+ re-rollable armor save, 4+ ward and MR2 (2+ ward vs spells), and stubborn.
He's really tough to shift, and does decent damage.

Not a big fan of the flying chariots but I really enjoy characters on griffons, eagles, and dragons.

Ridden Phoenix, as Matt points out, can be pretty hard to bring down as well.

If you budget accordingly, you can fit several flying-mount characters in your list alongside a pair of Phoenixes and some great eagles.

Lots of flying units!

I run "flying circus" type lists pretty often for High Elves and they are still plenty viable. You just have to be careful.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

Just because cannons are OP doesn't make monsters bad. If they hit combat, they do well.
