Recently received a Space Marine Captain Web Exclusive (plastic model), which is my first miniature, and got a little ahead of myself and primed it with some of the Citadel spray. In an attempt to clean the primer off, I used Mean Green. Let it soak a couple of days. This didn't get the primer off, used acetone-free nail polish remover to do that later, but some of the details particularly on the shoulder piece and face look corroded or smoothed down.

So my question- Did I mess something up in my attempts to clean the model?
Would like to know so I do not repeat any potential mistakes...

have you tried soaking the mini for 24h in a dettol bath and then using an old toothbrush to scrape off the paint?

I know primer is harder to get off the model, but good lord why did you want to get rid of it anyway? now you ruined the detailing with the nail polish remover...

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

Honestly, I did not know what I was doing when applying the primer. It clogged the details up pretty bad. I had read the Dettol was the way to go but wasn't able to find any locally.
Thank you though, now I know not to use nail polish.

Super Clean is probably your best bet. Primer is a tough bird on plastics, it sometimes doesn't come completely off, no matter what you use. That said, Super Clean (in the automotive section of your favorite store) works the best of anything I have used. Make sure to wear gloves when using it and safety glasses aren't a bad idea either.
