Hi everyone,

I've recently returned to 40k after nearly 15yrs away and I want some advice on my army. I'd prefer to use what I've already got, rather than rushing out to buy 4 serpents and 3 Wraightknights I'm most likely to come up against Tau and Necrons as these are what my friends have.

Current army list -

26 Guardians with 2 support platforms
8 Dark Reapers + Maugan-Ra
9 Swooping Hawk + Baharroth
10 Dire Avengers
8 Striking Scorpions + Kandaras
3 Warp Spiders
6 Rangers
1 Vyper
2 Falcons
5 Guardians on jetbikes
5 Wraithguard
Wraithlord
Eldrad

Farseer

I've played through a few ideas but I reckon that's around 2.8k-3k in points if I took everything and added some addition wargear, although I doubt that would be legal due to all the HQ units

I'm likely to be holding battles around 1.5k- 2k points.

You have a good model count for starting up again, but what is your theme? Or what craftworld do you like?

Depending on this ^^ is what your list/advice will be.

As Arbiter said, it's best if you provide a list or a playstyle/theme for us to work with. From the looks of your models I am hazarding a guess that you enjoy using footdar. Also what is your group's stance on proxying? Falcons just so happen to be Eldar's least popular tank currently. Moving towards Fire Prisms and Serpents instead.
Using solely the models you've listed and an emphasis on no serpents or wraithknights, I've thrown this together:

Thanks for the initial feedback. My group are happy to allow some similar proxies, for example using Falcons as Wave Serpents or putting a Farseer on a jetbike but using a standard jetbike model is ok, but using a Wraithguard/lord as a Wraightknight is a no no, which I think is understandable

I love the Saim-Hann army colour scheme but as some of my army is already painted in the Ulthwe style I'll try going down that route.

I've only played 1 very quick 1k game vs Tau so far and sadly we ran out of time but I love the idea of Scorpions in WS (falcons) and jetbikes ripping through his weaker troops in Assult.

I'm thinking I'll often want to take Farseer on jetbike + 4 more jetbikes. Bigger squad of Scorpions (7-8 + exarch), with hawks to soften infantry and WS(falcons) to move scorpions and maybe a DA squad around the board.

Well as you know the falon and serpent are not assault transports, so no charging out of them. If you take some DE allies with raiders or venoms you can fix that. As for a ulthwe army, do you like guardians? If you say yes take blobs of 20 plus warlock and duel BL and charge forward for the win!
