Automatically Appended Next Post: So im not too sure of this, my question about the D rules is what happens if you attack a unit with a D weapon? It seems like it was written to be used against one model or one vehicle at a time.

There's not many vehicles out there with 12 HP. Not many MCs with 12W, either, for that matter. And... no regular models with 12W at all.
So D weapons didn't really get nerfed all that much, or at all, really, they just express their dread killyness in a different way.
Though I suppose needing a 6 on the table to actually get those wallops in is something of a saving grace (for everyone not a D-weapon)... though I suppose if there are things that give bonuses or re-rolls on that chart, then, well, it's still very dread-killy indeed.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

I really despise the fact that cover is allowed on D weapons, just the thought that a stone could protect you from a nuke is laughable. That being said at least they are not "broken" like they were in sixth.
Out of curiosity how many of the blast type D weapons are barrage?

Everything I say, barring quotes and researched information, is my personal opinion. Not fact.

Hey I bet a lot of people were not complaining when those stones and blades of grass was protecting them from Spirit Leech from the Doom of Maln'Tai. Just curious were you complaining about the blade of glass protecting you from SL by any chance?

Really wasn't meant to be another complaint, more of an opinion. I don't particularly like the concept of cover saves in general (would prefer them to be a modifier to hit, but thats another discussion all together), but sometimes they feel more out of place than others. Like the examples you gave, that being said allowing those cover saves does help, for a lack of a better term, balance them.

Yeah I don't really like the way the cover system works in 40k from the ground up anyway.
I wonder if this is a bit of an over-nerf in many cases. I think D weapons are a good time to implement save modifiers. So instead of "ignore cover and inv saves" it could just be -2 to cover and inv saves, maybe -2 to cover and -1 to inv.
Overall I think D weapons in general are a stupid idea though and just represent a way to fit something big and powerful in to a game system that wasn't designed for things which are big and powerful.

Hmm this looks like a reasonable way to actually balance D-weapons somewhat, especially if they're going to start forcing them into regular 40k now. I'm actually happy about this development.

How are these rules changes different from the imperial knight d weapons? Can someone break it down how it was and now how it is?
Also I have the iTunes IK codex - will it get updated with the newest d weapon info?
