I dont often rember my dreams, but when I do, they all make sense. They've got a followable narrative, a diverse set of characters, gakky dialog (I'm bad with conversations, ok?) and such. So I never got all the weird dreams others discribe having. Is this a regular thing every one has, or is it just me? Because its pretty freaking sweet if you ask me. Its not every night, just most. The only non-logical dream I can rember is shopping in walmart with my dad (I am 5 or 6 in this dream, yet have the same face as my current look) and the dragon from DBZ breaks through a window.

Learn to lucid dream. Then dreams will be much better.

Oh, no, I dont have any problems with this kind of dreaming, and quite enjoy it, I just wanted to know if this was a common thing and maybe why it happens. It probably has something to do with me acting less off emotion and more on logic.

It varies. All have a plot to some degree or another and I very rarely have nonsense happening. It's just that things will change rapidly often from good to bad. Anyone else have a lot of dreams that have melancholy endings? I certainly get those a lot.

In dreams where I'm more alert (Such as only having a few hours sleep and so I find I never reach complete deep sleep) I find I remember a lot if not all of the dream I had, just never the starting of what is happening. But generally I can piece together the strangeness of it all and find it all makes sense. The only downside to remembering so much is that I'm exhausted when waking up.

Well, mine often end on what normally would be considered a melancholy ending, but often in a positive light. A common one would be me dying, but instead of the obvious reactions like fear and sadness, the only reaction is pure bliss.

Hhmm, interesting. I think I read somewhere that dreams tend to have negative tones more often than positive ones. I know mine are pretty dark which doesn't bother me. It's interesting to see the imagery.

I very rarely die in my dreams. Most of the time I am just the last man standing when my companions either vanish or die. I never feel sad, though. Just feeling triumphant that I survived all of the crazy gak that just happened.

I always have pretty vivid dreams that I can remember for at least most of the day. I would find it odd if i didn't.

I generally don't dream, but when I do, it's pretty lucid. They don't often match up in any way with recent events, but I think that's the only unusual most normal thing about them.

Yeah they can dreams. Dreams can be whatever. Heck one time when I was a kid I had this dream that picked up where it left off every night for a couple weeks, continuing the same events.

I've had dreams where i've liked invented a new episode of whatever TV show i've been watching a lot of recently, had that with Supernatural, House and GoT. Its pretty cool. One of the Supernatural dreams I had was amazing, was gutted when I woke up

sure it is... lucid dreaming is actually quite useful as an educational tool once you get used to it.

longer practice times, and no consequences for screwing up.

I taught myself how to do backflips VIA dreaming, and frequently practice guitar and piano in dreams, and retain the muscle memory after waking. Ill frequently think about my real life situations, talk it over with people, and gain insights. Heck, I had a dream once that lasted ~50 years, where I had kids, a job, a life, dreams inside the dream and every detail was just so crisp and long lasting, it really gave me a trip when I woke up.

The whole "am I a man dreaming of being a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming of being a man?" type je ne ses quois feeling was eerily strong for weeks... to the point where I was genuinely sad that my wife and kids (who died in the dream :( ) were gone.

I think people dream very differently though, lots of people never remember them, seems like very few can even dream lucidly.

I tend to have vivid dreams and remember them. Sometimes it'll be related to TV I've recently watched, books I've read or games I've played, but others it will be more grounded in real life (usually a better/worse version of it). Sometimes, it's completely out there, and can flick between dozens of times and places that makes sense at the time and none when I wake up.

The most common thing is that I can generally control myself in dreams, I can make my character/avatar/subconscious act as I would, and always see it through his eyes. Sometimes I'm myself and sometimes someone else, but I can always control it.

Occasionally, I'll remember enough that I store it long-term and some of this tends to make it into my writing/poetry, be it characters, themes or settings.

So, maybe that was your actual life, and this is just a dream?

When you dream up the plot for The Winds Of Winter, do let me know. You'll probably beat GRRM to it.

I usually don't remember my dreams. When I try to think back its those on the tip of your tongue kind of things where I sort of know but can't really think it up.

that is the jist of it, and the whole concept is actually quite ancient,

lots of artists, inventors, and visionaries have claimed to be inspired by their dreams too.

Quite an interesting topic, although one with no real "concrete" ways to prove anything.

"in paler demarcations, greater clarity is found."
