Plenty of life magic floating around. Got a horde, some hard hitting units and plenty of toughies (lowest toughness in the army is 4).

So it’s a total fluff army. A LOT of flammable targets but some tasty units, but how do you reckon it would be at a semi competitive level? With GW bringing out the ‘Guardians of the Deepwood’ box set, is it worth it? What do you think?

Thanks

You don't have "plenty of life magic" you have 2 level 1's.
Durthu has beast magic.

I'd combine the treekin into a single block. You don't have enough hitting power, but they are very tough. You'd be better served with ranks.

This army isn't good at anything except getting picked on.
You've got crap for shooting and magic, very little speed, no standards, and mediocre hitting power in combat.

Throw in treebeard and have a picknick! But really, I doubt this would do well in any type of competitive setting, if maybe you took a lvl4 spell weaver (that right?) you would be better off, as for 50 trees in CC I would think it does well, sure you only have 20 attacks, but at S&T 4 maybe you can get lucky (add in wildform)?

Dryads are only S3 now, sadly.

What bugs me about the trees is that they benefit so much from Beast magic, but only get Life (minus The Big Guy himself). With Horros, you could at least spam Branch Wraiths and lay the smackdown.
And with Wildform, Dryads and Treekin become legit again.

I'd suggest adding in some Eagles and Sisters, maybe Rangers and/or Wild Riders? Waywatchers?
There are Elf units that go well with the Forest Spirit theme.

Well, only forest spirits army is pretty weak, but if you use 2-3 mages with life/light magic you could really make an impact.

What??? Trees are only S3???? Where is their S4 that they deserve from being actual trees???? Hasn't GW ever been hit by a tree??? It really hurts!

I guess you can try to wildform yourself with your special tree, for S4 T5.

Dryads are S3, have a 6+ Ward that is not negated by magic, Hatred, are rank and file, and cost 11pts/model, now.

Overall, they took a hit. But so many Wood Elf players got what they wanted: a unit that can strip Steadfast.
Totally against the feel of the army, but hey, it's what they wanted. Ug.
