Hi, this is my first post here so go easy on me if this is in the wrong section
My question is, does anybody know anything about if GW is going to be releasing new tyranids soon? My main reason for asking is that I'm thinking if starting a tyranid army and don't want to buy old models if new ones are in the pipeline...also I've noticed on their site that termagants are now no longer available, so that's what has led me to believe something is going to happen soon, anybody know anything?
Thanks

We just had a new (and incredibly awful) codex, but GW seems to be "apologizing" by manner of selling us a crap ton of overpriced dataslates, an update of IA4 and perhaps supplements down the line so that you can feel the joys of pay to win DLC.

The Tyrnids just got an update a few months ago. I've heard nothing about a second wave of 'Nid models.

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Henry,
This 40K (and GW) have consistently been turning nids into the npc that no one is afraid of from Warcraft.
Since 3rd edition they've consisently gotten worse and the most recent release has just continued that trend.
But wait, since the "largest threat to the imperium" has been getting worse, they just make Deamons way way way better.
Just see the rest of the posts about how rediculously OP Deamons are.

Daemons took a large number of hits from the new edition. Their psychic trickery is much harder to pull off successfully now and somewhat easier to deny.
But now they're encouraging everyone to buy them because free troops available to most armies.

I'm more of an aesthetic collector rather than a buy them for domination on the board kinda guy, they still look cool! I just want to know when GW intend to release new termagants...seems weird they don't sell them anymore, you'd think that they'd bring out something really quickly after retiring a core unit.

95% sure they are not retired and are just temporarily unavailable. Check your local brick and mortar store.

It says "no longer available" rather than "out of stock"
Intend to avoid GW stores, but I think I might have to ask in store!

As and when another wave does arrive, it will presumably concentrate on continuing to take the range all plastic, so Zoanthrope, Venomthrope, Lictor/Deathleaper, Broodlord may well get new models.

We'll that makes sense I guess darkjim, but I don't get how I can start an army if the core unit isn't available for purchase...is it possible they're just changing the amount of models,in the box? Whilst searching the web I've seen all manner of different boxes of termagants with different amount of models in the box.

It could just be that their website is terrible.
I can see what you mean in the UK version of the site, although the smaller 5 model box of gaunts is still available. As are hormagaunts and the swarm box.
In my local (NZ) version I see they are still listing both the 12 model and 20 model versions of each type of gaunt. Although both of the hormagaunt box descriptions still say 12 models...
Only the 20 model box of termagants is currently unavailable.
In addition. What the hell?

I just think with a new rule book and new box sets being released that a very basic unit should still be available, if it's not being updated. And yeah but aren't the 5packs snap fit? Hence the cheaper price... I remember about 10years ago when they had the space marine squad box, but the paint set contained older style marines...very strange!
Also those mines are rather expensive! Nearly as. Much as said pack of gants!

Tyranids got a new codex and mini release in January. If you want to get gaunts you are better off buying the Tyranid Horde box set. Bascially you pay for 2 sets of gaunts, 2 sets of hormagaunts, and you get a box of Gargoyles and the Carnifex for free. Have no fear if you buy anything now, nothing will be updated for a long time to come. Warriors just got updated, and all the other kits have been updated within 2 years or got totally new models. So buy without worry of anything being replaced.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

With the spore mines, I was more concerned that GW thinks they are troops and monstrous creatures than their price.
I'm kind of numb to ridiculous prices on that website by now.
