Can't recall when they put v1.0 of the codex FAQs up for 6th edition. Wasn't it a few months after release? But I mean the only real change alot of books needed was the HP value for vehicles which for 90% was in the BRB. Pyschic powers and few other things kinda need an immediate FAQ or else they are unusable. How can I use my GK powers if they state they are used in the fight sub phase yet I don't generate warp charges at this time? Common sense dictates I replace my GK powers with their Sanctic equivalents (I mean they kept the names exactly the same). But there is no rules to support that. So atm GKs can generate a ton of warp charge...then sit on it? Only Libby/Inquis can honestly use powers.

With luck we might see them tomorrow. I'd hope at least by Tuesday which is the first business day of the week. If we haven't got them by the end of the week I will have lowered my opinion of GW as things like psykersand items affecting psykers are currently a big mess.

My question would be if we can still use things like Might of Titan and Quicksilver as purchased for points on the GK librarian.

For now I would use them in the psychic phase as intended by the new rules, no need to over think it.

How poor of form is this, though? How many have you paid $85 and wanting to play a game this weekend, but you really can't play a real game of 7E without having your armies updated.

The FAQs should have been out. Even prior to the release, so you could read up and it'd generate more buzz.

Dearly departed, we are gathered here today to mourn the loss of 40k FAQs. Its legacy of fixing some things, ruining others, and not answering the tough questions will live on in our memories and be continued by the "4+ it solution". May it forever rest in peace.

I really hope not, and that it is just GW taking there dear sweet time.

speaking of stuff that needs FAQ'd, you cannot ally with yourself in the new rulebook (same as 6th) but you cannot ally with supplements of your own faction either.

So unless supplements get FAQ's to count as valid combined army detachments OR allied detachments, you cant ally with them for now

This is not true. There's a part in the rulebook that specifies that supplements now count as the same faction as their parent codex, it's just not mentioned in the section on detachments for the sake of rule consolidation. We've already seen that in other places like when Characters aren't mentioned as being able to challenge in an assault until you actually get to the character section.

Since supplements in this edition count as the same faction as their parent codex, you can freely create a combined arms detachment with yourself using the supplement. You just can't mix troops of the parent codex with the supplement codex, as all units in a detachment must be from the same codex. So in other words, to have say the Crimson Slaughter in your army if you're playing Chaos Space Marines, you would need:

1 Combined Arms Detachment of Chaos Space Marines with 1 HQ and 2 Troops
and
1 Combined Arms Detachment of Crimson Slaughter with 1 HQ and 2 Troops

As long as the supplements and the parents have their own detachments, it does not violate the same codex rule. At the same time, you may already take multiple detachments from the same FACTION, not necessarily the same CODEX.

HAH! Good luck with that - your wishful thinking is refreshing around here.

I actually spent a good few minutes trying to assess the level of sarcasm in this post.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

"Long ago in a distant land, I, M'kar, the shape-shifting Master of Chaos, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish Grey Knight warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"

If I bought the rulebook I'd be more upset that I can't play my armies as I typically do. Most of the things I use are psyker related and as it stands they don't work without a rewrite. Since I did not, I am calmly requesting they hurry up already with the FAQs.

I wouldn't be so sure of that.

Restrictions
All units chosen must have the same Faction (or have no Faction).

Supplements are the same Faction of their mother codex. The restriction above does not say about Codex, but about Faction. So, you can mix & match units from either codex and supplement in only one Detachment.
This, however, brings up another set of problems: Relic and Warlord Tables. Should you use only one of them? Can you select wargear from both, as long different models are using each? Which Warlord Table to use?
For simplicity's sake, I'm going as you said: no need to pick allied detach (as it won't make sense), but need different Detachments.
