I've got one squad of Chaos Spawn in my CSM army built from the Island of Blood rat ogres and the normal spawn set with an old metal spawn making the 5th guy.
I'd really like to add a second squad of chaos spawn, but I'm balking at the idea of having to buy 3 Spawn boxes or something similar.

Are there any good third party Chaos Spawn substitutes, ideally where I an buy them in sets of 5 without spending a fortune?

I tend to favour a more Nurgley aesthetic, but I'd open to anything that looked good and was also cheap.

oiw good are you with GS? You could build your own mutated body and stick different kind of mutation bits on them.

Or maybe something from Mantic? I can't really say how they compare sizewise. But the price is decent.

I'm tempted by the werewolves, I could see them working as the base for some conversions and their bodies combined with a standard spawn set would give 5 bodies.

I love the Plague Teraton as a model, but 5 would cost £50 and I would assume (having only seen the normal Teraton model) that changing their poses would be quite difficult.

I suppose I'm just surprised this isn't a gap in the market that some third party manufacturer hasn't filled. I'd imagine that people would jump at a set of 5 not-Spawn for about £30.

Has anyone else got any ideas or conversions they have used?

I'm building a single spawn at the moment. He's built almost entirely from spares out of my bits boxes. He's kind of top secret at the moment, so I cant go into details but I will post him here as soon as he's done.
