I was looking at the night lords and whilst I really like the fluff I'm not so fond of the wings on the helmets. Does any one have any good conversion hints for cool looking models, that don't include the wings?

Look to the Fantasy range of Chaos and Undead models for interesting variant helmets and feral and gaunt heads.

Just use regular chaos space marine helmets and do the blue knight lords color scheme.... Just pretend they are only recently fallen to chaos and haven fully ascended to bathood

I would use the terror squad heads from Forge world in conjunction with the mk 2 world eater heads, the mk 3 death guard heads and the mk 4 emperor's children heads. Stay with the night lords color scheme and everything will blend fine.

I like the idea of the forge world heads, though I think I'll only use the night lord heads and mix and match them with the heads already in the chaos space marine kit.

Heck use a mix of helmets, even loyalist. Warbands survive by scavenging armor and stuff all over the place. It would fit that their armors are a mix of everything they get their hands on.
