Wanting some opinions on a flamer necron list that I'm slowly refining. Recently played a game where a ghost ark scored 36 hits on a terminator squad with the template weapons, wounded 20 times and wiped out the squad.

2x overlords in CCB

2x ghost arks with 4 despairteks onboard and then zandrekh and imotekh onboard too.

1x triarch

2x Spyders

I've taken a triarch stalker and Zandrekh to boost the shooting for anti-tank when I require it (TL + TH). Canoptek Spyders can now repair hullpoints as well as immobilised and grants +2 deny the witch to everything within 3" of it as per the FAQ. CCBs with the new chariot rule make them very resilient against anti-tank weapons by being able to switch between taking hits on the character or barge itself. Using lascannons? Take it on the lord. Firing anything below S8? Take it on the barge.

Imotekh grants 4+ sieze and night fighting; giving the arks and barges +1 cover save.

The idea is that the enemy will try and avoid shooting the barges to kill the ghost arks. Using the rule that you get +1 cover save if the enemy is forced to shoot a facing that's not facing them, the ghost arks can confer a nice standard cover save and a 2+ jink save.

I.E: Move in with the the barges infront of the ghost arks and obscure the front facing of the ghost arks with them. This forces the enemy to shoot the side armor of the ghost ark granting +1 cover with a +1 from stealth on top.

I believe the spyders are justified as it would be important for my ghost arks and barges to stay up and mobile if I can and the 4+ deny the witch is also useful.

Main gimmick of this list is the flamers. You get 4x the number of hits under the template that wounds against leadership AP1. This kills terminator squads and horde armies with great ease. The terminators I killed today were inside a land raider. I gave the ark tank hunter and shot the land raider with the triarch. This gave the flayer array TL + TH which lead to the land raider being glanced to death as it had lost 2 hull points in turn 1. In my movement, I had positioned my ghost ark to block the front ramp of it which forced the terminators to disembark from one of the sides. My ghost ark was long enough that the passengers could then flame either side which scored 9 hits and thus 36 hits in total not including the ones from gauntlet of fire.

The arks also have wall of death against enemies attempting to charge the ark.

Nice idea and can see how it would work.

You know, if you ditched the tachyon arrows and phylactery and swapped for a pair of 5xwarriors, you could make this list battleforged.

CAD 1= Imo, Z, courts, 2x GA with 5 warriors, 2xspyder, stalker
(AD 2 = 2x CCB overlords with court, 2xtroop, .

Only thing is to check that you can swap the crypteks between detachments - I think that is ok as we are battle brothers with ourselves.

Right now I'm playing it unbounded until there's an FAQ about detachments. The FAQ recently replaced the royal court word "army" with "detachment". It's still a little ambiguous, but right now it is a lot of fun to use. I played a game today where a single ghost ark killed 15 death wing terminators before being chain fisted to death.

Basically in turn 1, terminators deep struck in. A 5 man squad appeared near the ghost ark so it moved in range and wiped them out in one turn. Second turn a librarian and a 10 man terminator squad were moving towards it. The ghost ark moved and flamed them and killed 7 in the squad. It had TL from the triarch so rerolled to wound. Come the next turn, the terminators assault the ghost ark and lost another 2 terminators to wall of death before it chain fisted the ghost ark and exploded it. Then in my turn the passengers flamed the squad and finished them off.

It was an interesting fight and more than made up for its points value.
