Curious question for you Dark Eldar players....

I've never quite understood if the Dark Muses that the folks over in Commorragh give a lot of "respect" to (i suppose thats the alternative to worship?) are "deities" or not.

Deity is such a loaded term in 40K, so i'll make an analogy - Are they beings on par or on scale with something like Malice/Malal (Lesser God of Chaos..back when he used to exist) or of a type similar to say Cegorach (just a lot less powerful).

Or are they just really powerful figures in Dark Eldar history - like a Primarch or a Phoenix Lord?

Because if they are more like Cegorach or Khaine (just a lot less powerful), I guess the question becomes - Why didn't dear old Slaanesh drink'em up like the walking juice bags of Warp energy that they are?

My understanding is theyre eldar who reached the pinnacle of their method of getting pleasure. I think its mentioned Vect might become one.

Something like a primarch, but to a much lesser degree.
just a historical figure, really. Kinda like how we might look at folks like Gandhi.

Hmm... comparison of the world's most famous peaceful protestor to the pinnacle of dark eldar society... nice one

Perhaps not, but since GW seems to subsist off sadness and pain, I can't rule it out.

Something like a saint - not divine but something to be venerated. They probably exist as some sort of psychic imprint if they were that powerful in the first place.

Correction, Civilization; not AoE. Gandhi was never in any of the AoE games. But he was a feature in all five Civ games.

Vect is the oldest, no? So I don't think any of the muses are still alive.

Have they not attained a sort of demi-god status in the absence of the Eldar Gods? (other than Khaine who is still worshipped)

How did you come to that conclusion? There are a lot of Archons in Commorite society who hold grudges against Vect for taking power from the nobles.

I thought that they were suriving Eldar Dieties that had fled to their worshippers in Commorragh and hid with them?

They might also be merely a cultural memory that the DE enjoy.

Or as said it might be that really old and powerful DE who have arisen since (nefore?) the Fall.

Which one do you like best I guess?

The Dark Muses, as I understand them, are just revered Dark Eldar who excelled at something to a legendary skill level.

Like how Bruce Lee will always be the greatest martial artist. No matter how good anybody else is, they'll never be as legendary as Bruce Lee. Even the greatest martial artists revere him.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
By the time they scream... It's too late.
