This may sound like a dumb question but here is the rub of it. I can find no where in the new rule book that points us to choosing fortifications from Stronghold or Lords of War choices from Escalation. The rulebook gives us the OK to use them but doesn't tell us where we can chose our fortifications/LoW from.

I know we should just assume its Stronghold and Escalation but we are given no direction in the matter. So my question is, How do we use those slots?

You use the Escalation / SA book and the FAQs that come with them.

The Combined Arms Detachment has both a Lord of War and Fortification slot. Unbound just take them anyway...

Points are in Stronghold Assault / Escalation.

Yes I understand all that, but the point is we are never told to use those books. If the game is permission based, something should be telling us to reference them.

They are the most up to date rulebooks that have rules for the models you want to play with.

I can't tell if you're being serious.

That's like saying "I want to play a Blood Angels Army, but the BRB doesn't tell me which book to use to select models from."

I have the digital edition of the rules but where it describes the different types of units in the battlefield role section lords of war and fortifications specifically tell you what books to reference.

The extra VP's for Lords of War seem to be gone, as do the warlord traits, unless you play a mission from the Escalation book.
