I have always been iffy on buying the cadian snap together pack. I don't really know why but something about it sounds odd, so I have always bought the cadian 10 man squad. Now I am wondering could I use the 5 man cadian squad with forgeworld renegade conversion?. Would they require a lot of work. I seem to not be able to find any unboxing about them so I have no idea what they look like out of the box and if it would require some work to convert them with forgeworld. I probably need some to fill up some more space on my cadian army with 7th edition too. Any help would greatly be appreciated

If you don't know anybody who is secretly Alpharius or Omegon, you probably are him.

It really depends on the end result you're after tbh.

There's a thread all about modifying them:

For filling out squads, they're fine and dirt cheap, IG look mostly the same unless you customise every model anyway, so for lasgun dudes that die in droves they're a much more affordable option. This also lets you make use of the upgrade bits in the Shock Trooper box; build Special Weapon gunners and Sarges from the kit, fill out the ranks with the snap-fits. If you want a little more variation, the heads are easy enough to repose for an aiming look.

Converting them is a lot more work, to be honest. For a start, they come with a hole in the chest that the gun snaps into that would need filling in for anything other than the 'gun across chest' pose. You'll also need a saw to cut the arms off, a knife won't do it. So I'm not saying don't do it, but the multi-part kit is far better for conversions.

Alright I have an unpainted 10 man squad I was going to add to my cadians so I will just start with that. I will buy a few more packs to convert thanks very much for your help

Ideal for a cheap sqaud filler.
Poses bit basic but if you have hundreds no ones gonna notice

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

I only wish the rumors about plastic snap-fit Steel Legion had come true as I could use the filler in my units.

I wouldn't bother with the snap fit cadians for conversion work unless you are really strapped for cash, they are much much harder to convert as the left arm and head is integral and not trivial to remove.

If you only need the Cadian legs (I'm not familiar with the forgeworld conversion kits, but it looks like they come with bodies already?), the snap fit ones would probably be fine, just get a saw or some big clippers and snip the model in half just above the belt and clean up with a knife.

But removing the head and/or arms is a bit of a pain in the arse so I wouldn't bother unless you're really short on cash.

I love the snap fit Cadians myself, but that's because I don't try and convert them. The reason I love them is because the standard multipose Cadians take me around 15-20 minutes to remove from the sprue, clean off the mould lines and assemble, the snap fit models I can do in less than 5 minutes. So when putting together 40 Cadians, I'm saving myself about 11-12 hours of work. Given I don't have a lot of time for working on my armies, that is worth it for me.

About the only thing you can do with the snap-fit Cadians is head and weapon swaps - and the weapons have to be similar to the lasgun in shape.
Anything other than a head swap would be a large amount of work for little overall gain.

I buy them for testing uniform and camo schemes, and for my kids to practice their painting on.
