Hi to all fellow Dakkans (I presume that's the correct plural).

My name's Ben, and I'm a Warhammer 40K fan from down in Perth, Australia. Been playing on and off since about 2003, only recently gotten back into it (in more of a modelling and painting sense, as opposed to playing). Currently I have two armies: a very old Grey Knights army (I'm talking all metal models old) and an Imperial Guard army. With the IG army, I decided to go with something a bit more fun and come up with a full backstory for them, which along with a friend of mine is turning into a bit of a short story. Should we ever finish it, I'll see what I can do about sharing it here for you reading pleasure.

I'll probably post a few pics of my armies at some point too.

Welcome! I believe the term is Dakkanauts. But I've only been around a while so that may not be correct. Hehe

And I've always had a soft spot for IG? Do you have the previous codex? I liked the part where they talk about "why collect and IG army". It's hilarious! And at the same time, inspiring.

Dakkanauts sounds better. I like it.

I think I've more been inspired by books like the Gaunt's Ghosts series to get back into collecting IG. Particularly from a storytelling perspective, they make for really interesting characters, and they give you plenty of room to be creative. Plus, when it comes to painting and modeling, it means I can put more thought I to them as they have a backstory. For example, I've had to source female conversions parts so I could add in some female troopers, because in the backstory I've created for them there was a genetic disease that wiped out a large percentage of the male population, forcing women to enlist where they previously hadn't.

It's a bit fun, really. Like I said, when I get round to it I'll post se pictures.

Wow a mostly female IG army! Great stuff! I hope you have found the female models. When I first started sisters, I looked at several different female miniatures but I still preferred the gw ones because of their armour and adornments which is usually not replicated in other miniatures.

Hopefully it is easier for IG!
