Just wondering if anyone has experienced an event that seems to defy the way the natural world works.
I haven't, but I was curious to see what people who did have to say about it.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I've was involved in two different major car accidents, the first I should have been severely injured in but didn't so much as have a scratch or even a bruise, the second I should have died in and yet again I was completely un-injured. Both times there was a presence that protected me and I was keenly aware of it being there although it was something I couldn't see in a physical sense. Sort of like when you know somebody is standing very close to you, you may not see them per say but you are very aware that they are right next to you and you're being watched.
It's not a result of adrenaline, I've been in numerous situations with very intense adrenaline surges from fighting and even being shot at so I'm well accustomed the effects of adrenaline and especially coming back down from intensity levels so high that it induces shakes in your muscles and other physical effects. Both accidents I was in were an entirely different type of experience and I have no way to describe it other than being subject to very surreal presence.

As a freshman in college.
It a Saturday night and there were some people over at the frat I lived in (not a big party, just a few people).
I turned in "early" for the night (about 11).
I slept in a loft, so pretty close to the ceiling. Not sure on the time, but things were quiet when I woke up with the strangest feeling...that somebody was in my room (my roommate was away for the weekend and our doors had deadbolts.
As I am laying there feeling this way....I swear that I sense a presence come over to me from across the room, but I don't see anything.
My hand was draped over the side of my bed and then I get a feeling as if someone, or something, had gently taken my hand and placed it in between theirs/its hands.
I felt a wave of sadness....and a feeling that spoke of good-bye.....and then the presence and feelings were gone.
I "woke up"...if I had been dreaming it I wasn't sure because everything was so....real...
Took a bit to get back to sleep but I did.
My room was just up and diagonal from the main phone desk for the house.
At 0630 the next morning I woke up on what I believe was the first ring of the house phone and immediately i had the thought "That call is for me".
A brother came and knocked on my door.....
It was my mom calling to tell me that my godmother had had a suddwn heart attack overnight and had passed away.

My friends family had a radio and they would sometimes listen to the cops talking to each other in the afternoons. Once someone called the cops saying some one was throwing large rocks on their roof. So some cops where sent to see. When they got there they where saying the banging or crashing was periodic. But every call they made, the banging etc became more intense. The family had this happen multiple times throughout the years. Wasnt exciting to listen too. But after a very long time of searching for the source of the noise which apparently was getting louder and more frequent (worst its ever been according to the family) the cops had to give up. They said 3ish numbers (cant remember was a while back) and said suspected supernatural and went back to the station to look into it. I dont have the full story as we where only hearing it through what the officers where saying through the radio. Dont know what the result was either. Bu I never ever thought id hear an officer go "suspected supernatural". But other than that I have never experienced any at all. For all I know there could have been a wacko banging on the roof (I assume the police would have checked this) but yea. The gist of the story is what the officer put the situation down to. Makes me wonder how often they do this.

Back in 2001 I was in Edinburgh Scotland I and my father went on a tour of Mary Queens Close. This was because I was interested in seeing a ghost and learning more of the history of the place. For those who don't know this place was a sealed off in the 18/19th centuries and was a former slum, that was then built upon by other buildings. We went on the tour in the catacomb like structures. I still remember the stale air and the gloom from the tour lighting, which I will admit certainly set the mood.
Three quarters of the way through the tour I then had my ghostly experience. It was when the guide was describing to us how young the chimney sweeps were in the olden days. How 6 or 7 year old boys were put down the chimneys to clean them while the fires were going below.
That was when I felt it on my left hand. It was burning, not like a rash burning, but like ashes were brushing the skin or if the hand was in a fire. Well I did the sensible thing and started crying from the pain and toughed out the rest of the tour, the group knowing that I had been burnt.
Course that's my story, my parents on the other hand have experienced much more than me.

Probably pretty often. If it isn't immediately obvious what it is I can easily imagine a cop saying "screw it, I'll just call it 'suspected supernatural' and go hit the donut shop again".

Doughnuts arent big here.... But yea woudnt surprise me. I would have thought they would say "I have no idea. lets look into this" instead of blaming supernatural. Seems like needless paperwork. I think our police are very different to american police because it seems really off. Hence why it stuck with me.

I've experienced a couple incredibly WTF was that moments in my life. I don't immediately jump to ghosts or the like, but I certainly couldn't figure out what had happened.
The most recent happened to myself and my wife. We were laying in bed watching a show, it was around 11 in the evening, the kids had been in bed for several hours. Our bed is on the wall that separates our room from our sons, and his bed is on the opposite side of his room, so pretty far from the wall in question. Suddenly we both heard and felt a loud banging on that wall that made us both jump. It lasted a good 2 or 3 seconds and it was a deep pounding. I jump up and run into my sons room to tell him to go to sleep, but he was up in his bed fast asleep. The wasn't anything on his floor or near the wall to fall against the wall or anything. It's not a load baring wall, it has no plumbing or electrical running through it or under it.it doesn't even has air ducts our the like.
It was pretty freaky, and I'm not sure what caused it. I think it's more scary because of the time of night and how sudden it started and stopped. Weird for sure.

It always seemed to me that the term "supernatural" is an oxy-moron.
I mean, if something actually occurs in the real world, however strange, isn't it then just "regular natural"?

Supernatural is normally attributed to the origin not the event. I.E the cause of something.
For example the banging is natural but caused by something (possibly...) supernatural.
At least I think thats how its normally used in topics like this.

Yeah, I guess I mean if the origin of the event were real, even if was like a 100% legit ghost or angel or something like that, that means it has to be natural.
Anyway, just a thought...not very relevant to the question at hand.

Bodies are an amazing thing, the stuff they can survive. Not to compare your mother to a deer, just to give an example, a coworker of mine was cleaning a deer out recently, said he found the shaft of an arrow, through it's lungs, from one rib cage to another. The deer had been shot years ago, chewed off the ends of the arrow, and the skin had healed right over it.
Our bodies are deceptively strong. I'm glad your mother was able to show off how strong they can be.

I lived in an old farmhouse in the country in Pa. where people, my father among them, reported seeing ghosts.
I never saw anything, but one night, when I was alone in the house, I heard voices in another room as clearly as though someone were holding a normal conversation, although I couldn't understand what was being said.
I did a room to room search of the house on all floors, from attic to cellar, and found no one, even though most of the rooms I checked had no way out except by the door I entered.
Whenever I went into one room the voices were coming from, the stopped only to be begin in another.
After the house check, I decided to go to call it a night and go to bed.

I don't believe in the supernatural. Ghosts, demons, angels, long-lived monsters who have eluded man for aeons - doesn't make sense or conform to physics/man's understanding of science and rules of the universe. You might chuckle and mention my reference to extraterrestrials in my username, avatar, and signature, but I don't consider life on other worlds 'supernatural' by any measure. I consider it to be extremely likely (even if it's rare in cosmic terms), and using Earth as an example, completely natural.

I've never experienced anything I felt merited being identified as "supernatural", beyond my frequent deja vu, which I usually put down to either my own burgeoning psychic powers, or a nearby change in the Matrix.
