LOL @ Fat Bloke/Zardoz ball-gag comment.

Awesome visual. Now THAT is something that leaves a retinal burn, for sure.

I can just imagine the grease trapped beneath his chin. That and food particles create a kind of cheese that quickly starts to smell like dead 'possum on Georgia asphalt.

Then he pulls his nipple chain and lets out a moan like manatees making love...

Well I only started playing Dark Angels in 1994, so I'm a late comer in this august crowd. But I walked away from GW rules for them when the first Angels of Death codex came out and was much worse than the normal marine rules. Since that day they have been the Dark Angle's the Emperor's Geometrons!

Anyway... so nothing for 40k till September seems to be the concensus. Maybe GW is realizing 4th edition is... well... not very good and focusing on Fantasy until they can get around to fixing it. For me this just means less money to spend on GW and more on Star Wars Starship Battles.

"Harvest Meat Company." Isn't that a bit inaccurate? Shouldn't it really be "Slaughter Meat Company?" It's meat, not barley.

GW just has to drastically lower their prices.. and make better rules. with less roid monkeys (marines fool!). Actually I just wish they would hurry up and cripple all the marine lists to the level of grey knights stand alone.. and power up guard orks..

I guess what they are plaining on doing is weeding out all the fair-weather players so all they have are die-hard players. With this action they hope to make a super strong fan base and challenge all other miniature games to a big battle royal where they will win based on blind fantacism that can only be acchieved with beer, meth, and being spun around with blindfold on...also promises of more gaming goodie releases.

The reason why Fantasy is doing better than 40k is simple - the ruleset has not been neutered like 40k.

Fantasy: Infantry have different movement rates
40k: Infantry has standardized movement (discounting jump infantry and bikes, since fliers and cavalry are more analogous)

Fantasy: Magic Phase
40k: Uh... some armies have Psykers?

Fantasy: Psychology
40k: Everyone has high Ld, easy ways to get high Ld, or don't use the Ld statistic.

Fantasy: Save modifiers
40k: AP system

I'm sure if everything in Fantasy had standardized movement, only a third of the armies had access to magic, everyone had high Ld or ignored psychology, and most weapons killed outright (or not at all), then Fantasy would be about as successful as 40k V4.

Personally I think you've hit the nail on the head right here.

That's why I'm on a 40K break. It's boring. I want it to not be boring again! "Streamlining" the rules took all of the fun out. I've been concerned about those moves ever since everyone got the same movement rates and Psykers got slashed to ribbons.
That said, I'll be making an effort to finnish my fantasy army since I don't exactly hate GW. They just make me sad.

I have nothing useful to add.
