GMT+0 at the moment. We will have user selectable timezones in the next major release though.

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY YAK!

That still sound funny.

Wow. Still kicking the tires, but it looks really sweet!

Thanks, Yak.

Two things:

1) I'm looking, but can't find a "Search by poster" style option (which I was using to try and find a thread I had posted on recently).

2) I've got this empty white box where a banner ad would be, if I hadn't used DCM-hax to disable them. No way to fill in the box? (Also, it looks like I get the 1/5 min page refreshes that the banners would ordinarily trigger.)

*edit: I've found some equivalent functionality for #1, e.g., click on the user name, then on their posts, and there they be. I'd still love a more robust search engine, though.*

Under the couch

Lovin' it so far. So very much faster than the previous forum that I haven't even bothered turning off the ads yet.

I would second (third?) the call for some way to turn off post preview though... Or at the very least add a bit more of a delay so that you can stop the pop-ups by just moving your mouse as you browse the topics.

Great job so far though

We will definitely be adding the option to disable post preview in a later release.

legoburner wrote:the back button 'bug' is kind of a bug... it is because the banner ad refreshes if you stay on a page for more than 5 minutes. Every 5 minutes it will reload and so pressing back just goes through the banners. It is on my to-fix list but DCMs can turn it off anyway.

Yeah this is a little annoying now, but everything else is good. Maybe if I had a button on my page that lets me view my profile as the public see it (thus allowing me to click "posts by this user" to check on some of the old posts I've made. Currently I have to go into the forums and click on my name, as far as I know).

Boy does this bring back memories.

Thanks for the hard work, Yak, Lego, and the crew. You make it very hard to leave Dakka, don't you ?

I've been consistently getting this error when I first enter the forums and try to click on any thread, post, profile, etc:

^ That was the one for posting this very reply. I had to try a few times, then count to 20 and try again, which finally let me get to the real page. And it's not just when I enter Dakka, but after a few minutes of viewing things it happens again and I have to pause and wait it out.

It's kind of a pain, but I'm dealing :S

Otherwise, great stuff, only a few things bugging me otherwise, and those have been mentioned - time, the back button, etc.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Going backwards to go forwards. I like the new Dakka.

however...

Version 5.0 is still not Opera compatible, Opera is my browser of choice (being clearly superior to IE dfor one) however I have to use IE to use Dakka. This isnt too big a problem as WinXP will not allow deletion of IE without throwing up problems I just have Opera set as default. It woukld be nice not to have to open a new window and use IE to browse Dakka when I could uxse the same software for all. The only other site I visit that wont take Opera is Warseer.

What are the symptoms of trying to browsde Dakka on Opera.
Well when I try to log in I get the login signal i.e Logout (Orlanth) at the top of the page, but when I change to another page this is replaced by Login. Opera wont store a login reference on Dakka at all. On old Dakka I couldnt open a new thread and use coding, but I copuld at least post (so I would use Opera and switch to IE only if I wanted to iopen a new thread). In version 5.0 I cannot post at all.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.
