People in their 30s and 40s who still play the game need to move over and let the younger generation have its time in the sun. Don't you people have lives?

No, we have women and children we desperately want to get the hell away from.

LOL so true. My missus gives me grief about the amount of time my hobby takes up. I keep telling her, it could be worse. I could have a stripper fetish or something similar.

Not that I don't like strippers (I just don't tell her - lol).

I'll be 39 in May. Been playing for 10 or so years.

Although my interest in 40k is waning, I'm being pulled toward specialist games and Historicals/Ancients (must be a sign of age).

Also married, but the wife encourages me to buy stuff!

It sounds like you are a lucky man. Or unlucky maybe...

I mean personally, I don't need any more encouraging...quite the opposite!

And dude, I'm only 22 and have already been pulled towards Specialist Games and Historicals....

I am 40, have played Rogue Trader, old epic and back to Battlecars. Further back to Avalon Hill games and D&D at the dawn of the 80's.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

I'm coming up on 48. I got into 40K about 4 years ago when some students in school asked me to run a lunchtime Warhammer club for them. I found it facinating and am still here>

I'm 30. My wonderful girlfriend is cool with the hobby, although actual gaming can be a pain due to scheduling concerns. She's a really talented painter (she does murals and such) and crafter and doesn't mind my hobby. In fact, she 's really enjoying the fact that I don't groan when she wants to stop at a craft store for something.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

lots of us old folks play... you can't afford the game unless you have a full time job I'm 35, the group I play with is all over 30, a couple might be 40 or even older..

I started checking it out around 92 and started really playing around 94.. it's an off and on thing and I'm finding as I get older I have less time to focus on it.. but in the last 14 years I've built up several armies so when it's time for the club to get together I just have to grab a bag of army men and I'm ready to play.

30 years old here. Been playing since using an adaptation of the RT rules at age 13 to do some roleplaying-oriented gaming, which then started me down the dark path of miniature-purchasing. Since then I've oscillated between WHFB and 40K depending on what phase of life i'm going through. I have to say that 40K is winning out these days, mainly becuase the fluff is more distinct from the general fantasy milleu. I was a big WHFB guy for some time, as the rules were better and the play more complex... until Alessio got ahold of it, and nerfed all skirmishers. Maybe I'll return to Fantasy as I get more domestic in my middle age.

All that said, i must say that one thing is changing a lot as I get older and more career-oriented: painting time. I make enough per hour thee days that painting represents a significant chunk of cash forsworn in the name of fun. I've gotten to the point where I'm considering buying commission services, because I'll further my business by working the extra hours to generate the cash to pay for pretty toys. It's very much a carrot and stick scenario, LOL. Anyone else out there find themselves making similar choices- or the opposite one? If so, why?

Great thread. Go grognards!

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
