Good stuff.

One question. Do I need to change my sig now?

Take a wild guess what I'm going to be doing tomorrow? That's right. Watching the kids.

November would be the Grand Tourney.

And there is no day two anymore, GD has been a one-day event for several years now.........

Big props to Negativemoney for winning the WHFB overall. Our guys also won 40k Overall, but I don't remember what his handle is on Dakka - so good job Paul!

I went 2-0-1 with my Ogres in the WHFB tournament and had a good time; just wish that they'd post up the results from the tournament.

Also had fun looking at the Dark Elf army book and ended up meeting Phil Kelly and spoke to him for a while, which was really entertaining.

It looked like significantly fewer entries this year, and that was just by me looking over and seeing so much white table show through. I actually only really saw the overall winner, an Inq Lok with quite impressive fabric work especially. I don't recall the painter, I think a woman?

Most of this is a direct result of removing the staff Golden Demon competition (excepting of course, the Open Competition) to a separate staff event later in the year. That easily removed dozens of entries from the tables.

If you attended Baltimore Games Day 2008 and are interested in leaving us feedback, please contribute to our Baltimore Games Day 2008 Feedback thread on our community forums (helps keep stuff in one easy to find spot).

Thanks to all who attended, this really was one of the best Baltimore Games Days in a long time.

Hard to say for WHFB, the Overall Winner and Best General both went 60-0 for battle points; so obviously the tie breaker gave Overall to the person with better Sports/Painting.

For 40k, I think the Overall also had highest battle. It's hard to tell since just about everyone from our local shop in 40k (Echelon Village) was at the top tables. Kind of sad since the top two spots were people who play each other regularly on weekends.

Unfortunately the Best General was in fact the 3rd Best General as both my self and the 2nd overall had 60 BPs. So this would indicate that I am the superior General.

Not to mention that it was a pure Slaanesh Daemon Legion. Thats right folks no Khorne, Nurgle or Tzeentch here.

Best "generals" aren't for real. They don't give orders or lead people or deal in budgetary processes or answer to politicians. That's what a general does.

They just get a couple of lucky rolls and move one inch dolls around. I beat the Patriots on Madden. Doesn't make me an All-Pro

Off-topic: Where is Echelon Village located? If it's only as far away as Philly I might have to make a road trip up there for some of your RTTs. Just recently relocated to B-more so I'm still building a mental roadmap of RTTs in the "local" area (read: Eastern Seaboard).

Hey Chuck,

Thanks so much for this report. A confirmation that a plastic Ork battlewagon is on the way is some crazy good news that I hadn't heard anywhere else up to this point.

I have to concur with what some others have mentioned, it sure seems like GW is loosening up a bit with their future releases with this Games Day and the concurrent GW design studio open day in the UK. Perhaps they've realized that holding their future releases quite so close to their chest isn't the best way to generate interest in their product (I can only hope).

To be fair, JJ wouldn't budge on the three month thing. Phil smiled and hinted, but didn't confirm. JJ wouldn't even hint. Stone-faced. That's a bit of a contrast to the Design team day in the UK.

That said, it was nice of Ted to share that notebook, not just from a rumor stance, but from a technical stance (I'm an engineer, I like finding out how things work).

There is no release news on the battlewagon, but it does have some design work done (clearly) and is probably on it's way.

And I agree the little teases help. GW should keep some things close to the vest (everyone likes surprises), but they should showcase some things in the pipe (like the plastic Nobz from the WD) to get the pilot light lit.

Thanks for the kind words, yak. Nice to be able to help once a year

zmc the Store is located about 15 min outside of philly and only 5 minutes from exit 31 on 295 in NJ. It should take about an hour and a half to get to Echelon Village from Baltimore (going 80 MPH all the way).

Also the Last Weekend of April every year is a very large WHFB tournament spread over 2 days called The Colonial. Last year we had 108 People play in it and over 30 more on the waiting list. This year we are looking to have 140+ people. There is also talk of a 40k one every October but that might be on hold until next year.

Heh. I think it was a Direct Services promo model. If you bought a kajillion dollars worth of stuff from the Online Store, you got the "Frodo Wearing the One Ring" model.

Intrestingly enough, there was talk of a FWtOR model in an article about Darren Parrwood's light-up Balrog model: "...and I had also recently produced a clear resin model of Frodo, representing how Frodo looks whilst wearing the One Ring,"

And the actual figure, for what Promo, I don't know:

I do remember seeing on the GW US site (old one) that was just a flocked base with hobbit footprints on it. So not really an original idea, but it did take some stones to enter something along those lines into a Golden Demon contest. Brilliant!

To clarify an important point, I was incorrectly awarded 1st Overall in the 40K category at this past Baltimore Games Day. The reason being incorrectly is that since I do not paint I am therefore ineligible to win any Overall awards.

Yesterday, I contacted Dave Taylor of GW to explain the mishap. It was then decided that I in turn receive the Best General award. I did not feel it was right to accept an award I did not deserve which I why I contacted Dave. The issue has been resolved and I believe that whomever received the Best General award will now be awarded 1st Overall. So 1st Overall and Best General will be swapped.

All is good.

Nice going, Paul. I think an honorary 'Best Sportsman' would be in order too.

Ya see? Thats the thing that is bugging me about the current situation.

Mid nineties they wouldn't just blurt it out either, but gave you enough hints to discuss and create a buzz.

JJ being this strict is unknowingly hitting GW really hard.

No rumours, nothing to discuss.

Nothing to discuss, no buzz for their product.

No buzz for the product, fewer and fewer people care about what they make.

Sorry, everyone except JJ seems to realize that this stance is made of lose.

I think they got burned by the early 2000's when we knew EVERYTHING that was being released for the next year. Remember when we had greyknight pictures and Tau hadn't been released?
I deffinately think these draconian "nothing outside of 3 months" thing sucks, but I don't want to go back to the "Yeah ok we know that move on" we had back in '00.
