It's not, but the difference is wandering into hair-splitting territory.

Gluing the base inside the model, though (which was his original proposition) most definitely is a whole different kettle of fish.

Agreed. It just makes me even less likely to play with GW's man dollies.

In my case it applies to my Raptors that I mounted on the larger bases so they didn't tip over all the time. Same thing with my Wraithguard. Now I have to deal with anal folks over the gluing aspects for my transport bases. I used magnets and brass rod on the standard flying base and added GW resin debris. The footprint is correct, but I didn't glue the base per RAW.

Kallbrand, for native speakers it's easy to realize that saying: Glue A to B is the same as saying Glue B to A.

What GW failed to do is say "This is HOW you Glue A and B together."
That's the point I was trying to make, and yes I still believe you can put the base inside the wave serpent, on top of the wave serpent, or attached by a long thin strand of glue 25' long. Just so long as there is glue between the base and the model. I was going to take a funny picture of the katamari base-monster I made, however, your baseless accusations that I don't understand English have hurt me deeply Kallbrand!

EDIT: The irony inherent in pretending righteous indignation concerning my linguistic prowess and editing out 3 typos has not escaped me, in case anyone wants to bring it up.

It might be easy to realize it, but it isnt what it sais. If you wanna play word games use the sentence in the rule and not what you "realize" it sais.

As far as I know, every model made to go on a flying stand has a hole to insert the stand in. Anyone who wants to argue any other mounting method or orientation on this forum is being deliberately obtuse. Do you want a guidline? Look at the photos of the model in the main rulebook, the appropriate codex, White Dwarf magazine, on the website, on the model box, or in store materials. If you still choose to be dense to the intent and practice of the rule after that, pick another game, like I Spy, or checkers.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Krak_kirby: Welcome to 40k! Being deliberately obtuse is a longstanding tradition amongst any rules lawyer worth their salt, or hadn't you noticed? This is the YMDC forum isn't it? Or did I get lost somewhere?

Kallbrand: I've posted what it says and made my position clear, have you found some fault with my position? If so you're not doing a very job position of arguing against it. I've clearly pointed out the flaw in the rule and stated the devil's advocate position anyone could and most probably will take in order to defend their ability to base their skimmers (and any other model) in any way they choose.

To reiterate:
BASES (page 3)
Citadel miniatures are normally supplied with a plastic base. If so, they must be glued onto their bases before they can be used in the game.

Awwwww, I've seen plenty of obtuse in these and other forums, just not so much in tournaments. When players go face to face I'm guessing they don't have quite the cajones to pull silly crap. Borderline stuff certainly, but if I see a base stuck to the back of a another player's vehicle, I'll bet the judge sees it my way. I suppose I'll just learn to live with it here, after all, what can I do?

Well then, I guess my Tau are screwed by RAW since I don't actually glue the flying stands onto the tanks at all, I use Tee Nuts (McMaster part: 90975A002 )

And Cap Screws (McMaster part: 92196A121 )

Along with the standard flying base to produce a flight stand that just plain will NOT snap off.
