Maybe, but those things seem a little unnecessary for a race that already knows space travel.

Raw materials could be synthesized, slaves could be grown or built, if they even had a use for them, etc.

I think we'd more likely get wiped out by aliens for a less tangible reason, like "they're ugly," or "our religion instructs us to kill everyone," or "we need to enslave things to feel good about ourselves," or something along those lines.

Or we get wiped out because they wouldn't even know we were alive, or could be killed.

They could be like the tau and want to have us join their empire.

Which would suck because we would have no political power. We could be specialist units in the army and that's it. :(

I like that because it´s been beaten to death in lame sci-fi. Watch how the nice eco-alien will respect our enviroment and solve global warming and hug the whales..... Try explaining global warming to a silicate based lifeform that thrives in temperatures over 200º or how important is to preserve biodiversity to a Tyranid hive fleet.

And thats different the life of 99.9999999% of the Human Race ever to have lived how? Sure, we can vote, but thats it. We are told who we can vote for, essentially getting to choose our Dictator for the next 4 years.

Taking all Political Power away from us might be very thing we need to achieve world peace! Exactly how do you Bribe someone that doesn't take an interest in financials?

I remember a statement from the esteemed Stephen Hawking on the subject. He thought that considering how our own history has progressed, that actively broadcasting our existence to the rest of the universe is potentially suicidal. Consider any instance throughout our history when a more advanced and powerful culture found a less developed culture somewhere. Slavery and genocide, unfortunately.
