I think I actually did that back in my gaming heyday in 1994.

Space Marine army - 2 rhinos, 1 old style land raider, 10 Termies, 60+ or so Beaky boys (3 old boxes, one used just for bitz)

Fantasy Orc Army - Lotsa boyz, Wyvern rider, 2 or 3 catapults, squad of Goblin wolfriders, 5 Ogre mercs, boss and retinue.

Fantasy Chaos Army (partial) - Buncha Chaos knights and other assorted nasties.

Ork Army - at least 50 boyz. Boss and retinue. Old buggys and such. (I know it was as big as my Space Marine army but sadly I rarely played orks back then).

Assorted other figures both fantasy and 40k.

It was a long time ago! Wow it's all a bit fuzzy and I won't pretend they were painted very well but servicable and better than most rush jobs (I still have a few good examples) I remember the Space Marine army so well 'cause that's the one I played the most often. Wow, I guess it's not quite 500!!! That's a hell of a lot of figures!

I prefer to look at quality nowadays!

I'm game for at least attempting this. So far this moth, i have painted 1 Rhino, 1 Penitent Engine, 1 Cannoness, 10 DKoK Grenadires, 3 Sisters Repentia and a Preist w/ an Eviscerator.

If Vehicles count as 2 then i have already painted 19 models in 18 Days and im still going (probably going to knock out a couple more repentia today).

best of luck to all!

Somewhere in south-central England.

The most figures I ever painted in one go was about 72 American Civil War infantry which I did in one evening for a demo battle at a show the next day.

I started with bare metal and finished with six regiments based with flags (including making the flags from wire and thin sheet metal. They were 15mm scale so did not require detailed painting, though they did have highlighting.

I managed it by drying the paint and varnish extra fast in the oven. You have to be very careful with this technique!

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

So the challenge is on I guess... I have about that many orks to paint lying around- should I just go for it?

I'm sure many people would be willing if they had

a. The time
b. The 520 models
or
c. The money for 520 models.

Unfortunately I fail on points a,b, and c.

Best of luck to all that take on this task.

If I take last week as my start, I'm at 23 so far. Count me in, I guess I'll even maybe start a thread to help keep me motivated.

That's 520 by next Wintereen-mas.

Are there rules to this? Are you allowed to paint 20 models one day week and none the next?

Edit. Jesus. 20 models a day! nah. fixed it to week.

What are the limits? Self-imposed? Because it seems to me that it would be easy just to get 520 skelly models and just dip them and add some highlights.
