This has turned into a PP v GW discussion, which is a shame.....

Rivals to GW at the moment, at least in terms of WH40K has to be Infinity the game and AT-43. Infinity provides a wide range of miniatures that blow GW stuff out of the water. Comparable to GW quality of sculpting has to be AT-43, but the fact that they are pre-paints probably puts certain people off.

WH40K is good for what it is, but I agree with some of the posters when they say that the game is aimed at newbs rather then vets.

Newbies fail to realise that if you get a copy of Stargrunt and somebody else's figures, you can build a SCI-FI army of your choice for cheaper.

I'm tempted to do something similar with the Starship Troopers rules and my Imperial Guardsmen.
