Had first test game of the new dex on tuesday versus Deamons. Marbo did his trick versus a pesky unit of Flamers that had emerged on my left flank. Subsequently my opponent blasted him out of existence using the whole arsenal of his Deamon Prince . One minor problem that came to mind in the post-action tactics discussion was the timing of Marbos emergence. When the reserve roll hits, you have to reveal him. In the game Marbo appeared on turn 4 and had to go for after smaller fish ( Flamers ) since the opportunity to hit the thick concentrations of the Deep Striking larger units was gone.

An Astropath gives you a +1 to your reserve rolls so he should be coming in on turn 2 or 3 if you take him. I realized with Marbo the best thing to do is drop him into cover when he comes in, toss your charge. That way he is protected from most things if he goes to ground. If he survives and you have range give him the order GBiTF.

So GBitF won't help sadly.

I was originally thinking of taking a WH Inq Lord with Mystics, Callidus assassin and two units of Psychic choirs, but Marbo really is a great buy... He might end up kicking out the Callidus in everything but Apoc and Planet Strike.

It does bother me a bit though that he can't assault after popping up. I think that might really limit his usefulness against armies with anti-infantry weapons that hang back (Tau devil fish, for example)
