My understanding is that Ogryn not being allowed in Valks and Terminators not allowed in Rhinos/Razorbacks is a rule based on fluff. Ogryn dont handle riding in Chimeras well, I hate to imagine them in an aircraft. And the Rhino/Razorback prohobition is because the doors are just too small to cram a Terminator through.

So back to the first turn GKT assault thing... if one wanted to give their one trick pony all the bells and whistles to boot, would it be worth it to stick a priest in the GKT squad? He's 45 points (so basically the same cost as another Terminator) but you're rerolling misses (usually needing a 3+ to hit with GKTs) on the charge. Anybody crunched the numbers on that? Would it be more viable with a 10 man regular Grey Knight squad (the priest taking up the 11th seat in the Valk)?

I suppose one could also take Creed in a Chimera if one wanted to add "For Cadia!" into the mix. Scout up on turn 0. Turn 1, unload/walk the assaulters. Creed's Chimera zips forward 12" and unloads if necessary (can orders be issued if the transport moved 12"?). Shooting, he tells them "For Cadia" despite Grey Knigths being from Titan. Then an Initiative 5 Str 7 assault from that squad. Reroll misses if you added the priest.

Yeah, definitely a one trick pony. And easily avoided if theyve seen the trick before... but having them come in from reserves to avoid it isnt necessarily a bad thing. Extra ground for them to cover before they can assault our gunlines and such.

Or you could just do the same trick with a melta squad. Scout. Then unload/walk them up to melta a Land Raider or somesuch. Zip the Vendetta over to shoot up another vehicle. Even if they fail to kill enough and the enemy spends a turn killing them off, might slow down their rush enough for our long ranged guns to take a higher toll. And it's not like a melta squad in a Valkyrie will be useless in games where we dont go first.

Maybe if FAQs were regulated, they et done more than once a lifetime and actually cover questions that need answers to.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Right now what I run is 5 GKT with a Grand Master in one Vendi and Straken with CCS, Las pistols Heavy Flamer and Medipack in the other. GM has scrolls to use two powers per turn once per game. The idea is to charge the nastiest CC turn one and obliterate them (straken gives FC to everything w/in 12", imo better than creed). Disembark, drop two flamer templates, charge, womp with termies, Force weapon an IC and if anything is left at the end, drop 2 holocaust templates.

-1 termi +1 Priest is an interesting idea though. Anyone done numbers on this?

This is the theory hammer list I posted a while ago regarding GKTs w/ priests:

Mmmm.... cheesy.

Terminators are going to be rediculous now...
2 Vendettas
1 GM w/3 termies
1 BC w/3 termies
= 742 (based off a local specialists tourny, can be added to in real games)

On the topic of the base of the valkyrie:

What if you made some kind of alternate base made in fashion with the Tyranid Hierophant?

Multiple adjustible leggings that can be added to the bottom the the flight stand so it can stay in the air over oddly-modeled terrain?

The true followers of the God-Emperor will never forget their name! We are the Imperial Guard!
Now and forever serving the God-Emperor, and Him alone!
