I know a guy who hunts rabbits with ferrets like they do in England. It's awesome to watch, unless it gets bored and falls asleep down there. Then he has to send another one down on a leash to wake it up.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I dont know about you, but I find hunting dangerous game far more exciting then say hunting Bambi. I havent tried it yet (even though ive been invited several times) but my Uncle goes down south somewhere and hunts them with a Spear. He has a very nice Boar head over his fireplace.
There is a huge difference from a grown man with a boar spear hunting boar than a group of 15 year olds who startle one while hunting rabbits. One does not end well....

I would, but the idea of another taswegian with a gun scares me (Think Martin Bryant. Google it (+Port Arthur) if you don't know who he was).
I have relatives down on that blighted isle - and there they will stay. If they want to see me, they can come up here, where the sun does shine, and we generate power the way grud intended - by burning hard black stuff dug out of the ground.

Ok, you enjoy your dirty coal. We've got our nice hydroelectricity.
And wasn't Martin Bryant the reason we banned automatics and pump shotguns?

Don't know about down there, but Wade Frankum's little escapade at Strathfield Plaza (in Sydney) was the reason NSW cracked down on semi-autos with an internal capacity of greater than 10 rounds.
Martin Bryant's little rampage tightened the restrictions. Automatic weapons have been illegal under Federal law for decades before his rampage. Pump shotguns were just more tightly restricted (limitations on ammo capacity).

Yep. I've only been on about 4 deer hunts, and that was the only one where the deer decided to show up. We were driving an island, deer got behind me and spooked. I heard him behind me, turned and fired. He was already mid-jump, but I took the shot anyway, kind of irresponsible but I was a bit younger and the fether scared the gak out of me. Was only about 8 feet behind me, and mid-air like he was takin off.
He hits the ground an spins out, back legs unresponsive but front legs just a going. Stepped forward and put him down. Turned, when we took him apart later, out that he had two pellets lodged in his spine. That's what stopped him, just the pressure of the pellets on the nerve bundle. 8 points and meat for the winter.
