Bastion looks cool and so does the defense line. I can live without the landing pad.

Seriously, WTF?

It's most likely a problem on your end. You need to adjust your browser's settings.

You shouldn't have to pick your country every time.

Possibly cookies from the GW site aren't getting saved or they're disabled?

And their site really does run better when you use one of the browser's they suggest.

Do you use multiple computers (laptop and desktop for example) with the same browser? Whenever I switch between my two the site forgets it ever knew me. : /

Tyranid bastions would be something easy to make.
Normal bastions, with hive spires, nests, and the like breaking through holes in the construction. Turrets wouldn't really exist, but might be replaced by beasts wired right into the hive flesh.

Ork bastions would be loads of scrap metal piled up as high as possible wif moar dakkaz!

Tau bastions would be streamlined ceramics, Eldar wraithbone, etc.

This is just the Imperial stuff. I mean, why are people surprised they're releasing Imperial stuff first? People who play the Imperium armies seem to far outnumber the Xenos army players. It's easier to envision a human city, rather than an alien city or a city designed by the powers of the warp, or a nest created by an omnipresent Hive Mind.

Perhaps it's easier because almost every supplemental model released by GW in the history of 40K has been designed for the human factions. We know what citizens of the Imperium eat for breakfast but I've seen arguments about if Eldar can even have fortifications. Personally, I'm not surprised that the Imperium stuff is out first. I'd be surprised if they release anything for non-humans (apart from extra-spiky Chaos versions), ever.

And we also know that the Imperium is the faction on the back-foot, beset on every side by "the horrors of the universe". We have Eldar raiders, we've got Tau expansionism, Tyranid incursions, et all.

We also know that the Imperium has to put down their own worlds every so often, with their own defenses that they set up to protect Imperial worlds from the predations of others used against them.

Yeah, sure. I'd love to see a Necron Tomb World visualized, or a Tau Sept described in detail. Or an Eldar Craftworld put in a viewable form.

The fact is it's far, far easier for Games Workshop to leave stuff like that to Forge World to do, while building the Imperial stuff in plastic for general consumption(you know...those masses of Space Marines(hurr) players, or the Guard players). The fact that FW hasn't puts me off, sure.
The fact that people are complaining about the "Chaos" bastion is obnoxious to me. Yeah, it's got spiky bitz. But that's how GW does it all the time for the lazy gamers.
Chaos Guard?
SPIKIFY!
Chaos Marines? SPIKEZ!
Chaos Orks? Spikes!
Et all.

As an Ork player I can definitely make use of buildings from any race. I hope we see some really cool looted defense line and bastion projects.

I just wish the Orks had an affordable flyer.

Stompa + Battlewagon + Trukk (or two) + Cities of Death Imperial Sector = Good sized Ork-i-fied City.

Friend of mine is buying a Stompa for no other reason than to cut it up and make Orky-style buildings.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And I'm going to do a 'wait and see' on the Landing Pad. If it is a featureless expanse of plastic with little scope for modding, I'll skip it. If there's more than meets the eye, I'll get 4.

What about a Bastion in the centre and three landing pads are connected to it at the elevated level by walkways...

convert the bolter windows into doors and they can all come out of the ground level door...

would make a cool Squadron / Platoon drop point

Priceing is a bit funny up here. $23.75 for the defence line and $47.50 for the landing pad. Odd, eh?

Hmmm. I've noticed something.

Reading the Aegis Defense Line's description, it is known as the "Instant Fortress" or somesuch.

Hopefully, Planetstrike doesn't become based on these terrain kits defining the size of the game. (I.E. 1,000 point games use Bastion, 500 point games use Defense Line etc.)

Of course, feel free to ignore this statement.

Expect me to buy the Landing Pad.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I hope it does, given a big enough advantage a bastion should costs some poijnts, though 1000 is steep, these are small towers not immobilised titans.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Orlanth, I don't mean points values.

I mean like, 1000 point games will use the Imperial Bastion as the Defensice Structure, whilst 500 point games are limited to only the Aegis Defense line. etc.

I like the fact you can combine several bastions to make some kind of armoured skyscraper or just use the ground level with the roof as a more converntional bunker.

Yeah I wouldn't do that. Making it too tall will give it a very high centre of gravity, and its base isn't wide enough to take it. One knock and the tower will fall, breaking whatever was on it, and whatever is under it!

These pieces look good. TLOS needs more opaque pieces like this. They make for a better game.
