And again: your assuming that people want or care for the respect of those that paint. As i stated before: I love to paint and model. I love to play with themed terrain. I like to field painted armies. I however don't feel the need to mock and ridicule others that don't share my interest in these things. I can also enjoy a game simply for the game play against someone who doesn't do these things.

I'll survive. My psyche won't be permenantly scarred. I'm a big boy, I don't need the world to agree with me or do what I say to feel special.

People play games for various reasons, which is the part you can't seem to fathom in your desire to force your own viewpoint on others while judging them at the same time.

And BTW:You have thrown out far more names and labels toward those that don't meet your self-important standard of participation in the hobby then I towards you (and mine accurately describe your stated attitude), so don't act so mock-offended when you get called what your behavior/posts indicate.

If you walk like a duck, and talk like a duck, and act like a duck, then yes you are duck...

The big difference Mr. Gamer is that when I'm tossing around labels I am not throwing them at anyone in particular. You on the other hand have made it a point to attack not just my point of view but me personally...

I mean for real dude you called me a Nazi... I should be writing a PM to a mod asking to have you banned. Perhaps I'm Jewish and am deeply offended... Is this what the dakka boards are all about.

The topic here was why fewer people paint WM... Quite simply I answered because they are lame. I've made a point to say I steer clear of these people because they don't share my attitude toward the hobby... Honestly man I don't see why You feel the need to attack me in their defense.

First off: You do understand the difference between the historical meaning of that word in the context of WWII and beyond and it's use in pop culture when added as a suffix to another word such as "Soup Natzi" (from the tv show Seinfeld, Jewish btw) or "paint-natzi" as is used to describe those with extreme views on model painting in wargaming, etc.? No? Really? Sad...

Second off: IF you have an issue with someone confront the issue directly Talking in vague weak circles so you use the defense "I wasn't talking about anyone specifically" is weak. Period. I could use your same argument and say that I don't paint or that my son or spouse doesn't and so all your negative comments offended them and myself by association. See how weak that is?

Look, I apologize to all Painting elitists that may have been offended by my use of that well documented term(especially in the context of the discussion of painting on a war gaming message forum).

I'm finished w/ this thread. I think you enjoy the attention too much.

Have a happy life.

On the off chance that you haven't heard, Rule #1 of Dakka is "Be Polite". Click on the link in my sig if you feel that this needs more explanation. And, to be clear, it's not "Be Polite unless someone else isn't being polite" or "Be Polite unless you really don't like what someone else says".

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Still you can't even bow out gracefully without calling me names or interjecting your opinions of my character.

There is a huge difference between blanket generalizations and Individual insults.

This thread is pretty funny... Back when I used to be more of a "hardcore" tabletop gamer, most "painters" don't hang with the "gamers", because the "painters" are torn apart whenever their models hit the tabletops. After a dozen games or so of NEVER winning, the painters get upset (and complain) about playing against pure pewter armies. On the other hand, the "gamers" don't enjoy gaming against "painters" because well... They kind of stink at the game, and it's never a challenge... Not to mention the bad grief you receive if you "loose to a painter".

Watching this thread go back and forth takes me back to the "good ol' days". The greatest irony is that most of the "gamers" now have fantastically painted armies, and they are still ruthless on the tabletop. Most "painters" only join painting competitions at cons and no longer play ANY of the games. The bottom-line is that both "painters" and "gamers" can be elitist, but from my experience, gamers are the more hardcore and less discriminatory of the hobbyists.
