Wow, still on the same size base and there is nothing in the book about modifying the the base as long as it's the same size, good try thou.
No offence, but it is not the same sized base. Would you allow someone to put it on a 40" stand, so it could use its lascannons to pewpew but be immune to most of the armies anti tank? Because if you allow a shorter base, you must allow me to use my 40" one too.

1) Find something in the rules that would allow the Valk/Vendetta to disembark models or be rammed;
2) accept that the rules do not cover the situation, and enter into discussion as to a reasonable adaptation; or
3) shrug, and walk away, secure in the knowledge that anyone you want to play a game with will probably agree that a transport vehicle is probably intended to be able to embark/disembark troops, and anyone who wouldn't agree to that at game time is no real loss to avoid.

Amen. The rulebook doesn't specifically address any of the issues with the Valkyrie sitting 5 inches off the deck (never mind, do the wings count as part of the hull for some effects like IQ mystics). There's a lot of things that the rulebook doesn't specifically state one way or the other, and sometimes as players, we need to display Sportsmanship. I'd like a RAW answer to everything, but it's not going to happen.

sorry but base size only refers to the diamater of the base not how high the model sits on it. you want to put it 40 feet in the air thats up to you but your not shooting anything either. lol

Except with my 48" range Lascannons, so I can zoom right up, Pop your tank and be out of range to 90% of Any enemy anti tank.

There is a reason why modifying the base in any way is not allowed.

Cutting the flight stand down is modifying the base. And it's no different than putting a tyrant on a rock, modifying the base results in 'opponent's permission needed'.

And if it were me, I would call you on Modelling for advantage, call you a giant donkey-cave and then play and beat you. Playing by the rules is one thing. Abusing them is something else.

That's fine, then I'll just ram your base with my Rhino since it's only 8" away now.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ WRONG!

You have to ram the Hull, not the base as you must come "into contact with the vehicle". Base =/= Vehicle.

pg. 12 BRB
"The base represents the total space that the model occupies, and is used for targeting and LOS purposes. Vehicles and skimmers are not exceptions to this rule."

I can see/touch your base, I can ram/shoot it. And ah'm rammin' it.

I mean, assuming you didn't get thrown or laughed out of the LGS where you dragged your 40" flight stand to.

You do realize that I was not advocating a shortened flight stand, right? There's also no need for insults and chest thumping. Whether you like the modification or not, you can either: 1) choose to play or not play the person (if not in a tourney); or 2) ask a TO for a ruling about the model (if at a tourney) - preferably before the tourney.

Yes, let's ignore the wonderful vehicle/skimmer rules:
measuring distances to or from the base cannot be used. Instead, for distances involving a vehicle, measure to or from their hull
unlike other vehicles, skimmers have transparent 'flying bases' under their hull. As normal for vehicles, distances are measured to and from the skimmer's hull, with the exceptions of the vehicle's weapons, access points and fire points, which all work as normal

Hmm, looks like Ramming isnt one of those exceptions!
