Fire emblem, If Advance wars had a Baby with an Rpg this would be it... Except fire emblem came first so i guess Advance wars is Fire emblems child... Either way both Fire emblem and advance wars are awesome!!! Yoshis island is another epic game and anyone who does not own it should find one for their super nes.

The "xxx wars" series [Famicom Wars, Gameboy Wars, Advance Wars, etc] has been around since the NES [technically the Famicom as I don't believe it ever saw a release outside of the JPN region] although Fire Emblem has been around for some time.

Do a search in the interwebs for 'DOSbox', it's a good DOS emulator. I got Fantasy General to run through it.

Damn I wish I had cash to spare.I loved the old monkey island games.Funnily enough so did my mother.
Anyways...um....I don't know if you would call it a "classic" but I have always found the hobbit to be a nice game. Also I am a big Dragonshard fan(I don't know if you can define this as a classic either).

Chrono Trigger for the RPG.

The original Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was great multiplayer fun.

For a fighting game, I'll kick it hardcore NERD style:

Bushido Blade on PS1.

I loved that game.

How appropriate, you fight like a cow!

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

From England. Living in Shanghai

Wow, I'm feeling nostalgic at the thought of all these games. I'm gonna echo a lot of what's already been posted, but anyways, my favourite classics are (in no particular order:

Starcraft, X-com (1 and 2), Command and conquer, Worms, Master of Orion (1 and 2), Total Annihilation, Tekken (it's in my fav list because it's one of the few games I was good at), Max and Civ 2.

There are probably many more which I have forgotten, but damn...I'm now stuck remembering my teenage years of piss ups and long nights of networked computer games.

I'd always have a Charizard by the time I got to Misty so I don't know what you're talking about, ah how I loved me my Charizard.

Games:

Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
Close Combat: Battle of the Bulge (Won that as the Germans, oh man though did I send Pieper too far forward, still though he held out strong)
Close COmbat: A Bridge too Far
Red Faction 1
Golden Axe
TES III: Morrowind (don't know if it counts)
Alien vs Predator (PC version, game was Nightmare Fuel on the Marine Campaign)
AvP 2 (PC version)
Extermination (PS2 Survival Horror)

Lets see this will be a pretty long list:

Final Fantasy 1 - 9 barring the slight dip with FF8 they are all outstanding games.
Chrono Trigger - one of Squaresofts finest.
Sonic The Hedgehog any and all of them
Mario Kart 64
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Civilisation 2 + 3
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Breath of Fire 3 - absolutely superb RPG
Sreet Fighter 2
Tekken 2
Baldurs Gate 1 & 2
Icewind Dale 1 & 2
Fallout 1 & 2
Diablo 1 & 2

Yeeeh incase you couldnt tell RPGs is pretty much my favourite genre of video games, all the ones listed here have been completed at least once, in some cases 3 - 5 times.

When you give total control to a computer, it’s only a matter of time before it pulls a Skynet on you and you’re running for your life.

Star Control 2 (free windows port available, called Ur Quan Masters) - one of the funniest games I've ever played.

Starcraft - Still the best RTS in the world, probably most played as well (meh, SC or WC3, close).

Oh, RA1/2, not 3, that's gak.

SimCity4 I find very fun. Huge epic continent Cities FTW.

Advance Wars 1/2

Halo:CE is sometimes a good hit up for 4 Player (or sometimes 12 player) system link madness with mates. I still hold down that Blood Gulch > de_dust

Alpha Centauri is off the cheese with how fantastic it is. The diplomacy is quite standout for me, as is ruthlessly cleansing cities with my own designed Nerve Gas Bombers.

Age of Empires 2 just for the gaks and giggles. I play modded with no Pop Limit.

I almost forgot Evil Genius! I will be appropriating this game very soon.

"And what is wrong with their life? What on earth is less reprehensible than the life of the Levovs?"
- American Pastoral, Philip Roth

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

I hated Yuri's units. He had those annoying infantry that set your guys on fire and that fething overpowered Mastermind.

I play AOE2-3+expansions. I actually still have the AOE1 disc. Not an expansion, but the origional disk. Me and my brother love playing that.

Goldeneye and perfect dark are amazing.

Zelda wind waker is pretty close.

GTA 2. I was surprised not to see this one on anybodies list. Its free and a simple fun game in which I toss grenades into a crowded train stations before killing twenty police officers and blowing the car up by ramming it into a tank.

I'm trying to get my hands on resident evil 2. So far haven't found it, but I will.
