Lol, once very briefly way back when and yes, I was probably about 16/17 with other things to spend money on. Beer etc.

Fantasy 4th Edition and 40K 2nd Edition bought me back again. Happy days

I've given up certain games, but never the whole thing. For example, I gave up Fantasy and (for the most part) 40k. But i still play Warmachine, FoW, and other games. Oh, I gave up Magic does that count?

I stopped for a few years in secondary school. Mainly because I was the only wargamer in the school.

I've had a few times where I didn't play/buy for extended periods, but I never intended to stay away. Blood in, blood out, gangsters.

I didn't deliberately give it up, but it fell away about 18-21ish with Uni etc. The release of LOTR kind of killed it for me, just stopped getting White Dwarves and then re-ignited it a couple years later.

Never. I'm becoming more addicted if anything. I can see myself playing for a lot longer, and truly being a veteran

Once, for about... christ.... 10 years nearly? I did pick up the odd white dwarf in that time but never... ahem... bought 'em, just scanned em in the shop.

Started with GorkaMorka, then I trailed of to other things, come to think of it I was probably around 15-16 years old at that time. Started again when 5th ed. 40k came around

I tend to follow the pattern of on a year, off a year.
Strange thing is, when I come back I seem to be better at modeling and
painting than I was before, even though I've had a year of absence from the hobby.
Guess its just a mixture of age, wisdom, patience, contemplation and further understanding of life itself.

That or the fact i can't resist a new miniature

I've never actively given it up, though I did essentially just not think about it from about age 13-20. Got back into collecting at university and have played a handful of games since I finished university

Went off because i didn't know anyone that was fun to play with at the time and didn't have the money to buy more models so went off for 2 years. then found more people that play with a new shop being opened and got back into it.

Never. I've done very little in recent years what with University, but I haven't given it up. It's just not a priority.

I quit for a couple months, to prepare for convention season.

I haven't touched my 40k stuff in about... 6 months... but suddenly my desk is covered in orks waiting to be painted. i don't know how they got there. honest.

War Gaming Never but I Gave up DnD for about 4 years

I wouldn't count my absence from the game (4 years) as I continued to buy and paint miniatures. I just wasn't able to play.

I have been in and out of the hobbie my whole life.

I stopped for roughly a month because of indecision

That's actually kinda funny to me because i gave up world of warcraft for warhammer xD

My hobbies and free time are just on a natural rotation, every few months I switch up to something different. Getting into 20mm (or 1/72) historical gaming keeps me into wargaming, but lets me get tired of GW periodically. Still though, it is impossible to play WoW on even a semi-serious basis and keep up with modeling and painting IMO.

Just recently started wargaming

I quit for about 3 years while I was deploying to iraq. I just didn't have the time. But now I do and my nids are growing ever so steadily

I stopped for a while between 12 and 16, when MageKnight stopped being known or any good.

Then I started 40k

I stopped again for a year or so when I entered college.

I quit only once more (when the embargo rage was in full swing last summer). That lasted until the new semester started, when the school gaming club opened up again.

I might quit for a week or a month here of there, but never as long as that first drought, and I always have come back.

Never! But I've only been at it for about 3 years now.

When I got married, free time disappeared for a year or two. Got back in. Had our oldest child, left the game, not enough time. Came back. Had the twins, really not enough time. Came back. Lost my job, scrambled to keep everything together and no time again. Back into it, but haven't played a game of fifth edition, only a couple of fourth edition, and can't remember what edition of fantasy I ever played in.

I quit once when I was about 15-16 or so, leaving highschool ready for college I just couldn't afford it and I still can't! but recently a good couple of months I've taken it back up, with WHFB new ruleset I find the game much more enjoyable and I had always had a secret love for Skaven, with there new'ish rules and models I just couldn't help but get them! Though I'm much more casual gamer then I used to be when the money was coming from my parents pockets

And ofc having a friend again close by that actually enjoys the hobby also makes it alot easier to get back into it. I'm not the best at joining into things and without playing games / store or someone to talk to about such things I don't think I would have ever gotten back into it.

Hell I even have a GK army coming along now!
