About to eat your Avatar...

GW created this problem and they are going to have to deal with it. SERIOUSLY THOUGH FFS!!!

As a consumer of GW WH40k products I can't see a world w/o "fake" products, although I cannot imagine Ebay being some sort of breeding ground for this act, get real.

GW charges too much, there is no debating this. Because of this I as a sculptor/designer can take a core design to GW products an market as my own. This would not include insignias, and other obviously GW developed (and OBVIOUS is the key word here) products.

I could honestly care less whether GW is losing money to replicators, and I would say the exact same thing about MY work regardless of money made or invested. As the developer of a product GW is responsible (AND has the resources... easily) to counter any serious copying of theri IP... seriously #$%^ ip UNLESS it represents something like the MONA LISA, GW has simply not earned this "consumer" protected right in my eyes. Let them deal with it, because I am sure as heck not being paid to take care of their losses... being short 100k U.S. a year speaks 100% true of this.

If GW sees, hears, and observes theft of their property let THEM deal with it, that is why you are overcharged for their products...

@ Rogue Market : Actually that guy is claiming that they are original products that they designed and made. They even claim to have consulted a lawyer about any possible copyright infringement. So, yeah, it is a recast, but of something they made themselves, which is a little different if GW doesn't supply a similar enough item.

Is this tolerable to create an exact product that IS GW/FW ip and sell it?

Its not.

I was not aware that Games Workshop or Forge World was making Salamander backpacks and shoulder pads.... I'm pretty sure neither of them are actually.... Also, how are you so sure they didn't sculpt the backpacks and pads? That's a pretty moot point, however, as people aren't going to buy those as generic back packs and shoulder pads, they are going to buy them as Salamander packs and pads, which neither GW or FW make. No, not recasting. Recasting would be taking a whole model, generally unmodified, making casts of it, and producing models from there.

Check my source its from the collector model archive.

It is a GW bit.

However Unrealeased.

It just breaks two points

1. its not original sculpt and created as claim
2. Its direct copy of an unreleased GW owned pad.

As far as other sculpting goes - yes - I dont doubt CH does its original sculpting in the design - but for the BASE product - a lot - NOT ALL - are GW modified parts -
modified - then recasted.

Example:

uses a GW shoulder pad as a base for production.

Yeah I'm not a GW fanboi by any chance.

Fact is - if this ebay seller - came over here on DakkaDakka.com

And tried to sell his fake dupes.

What will people say to him?

Dakkites would probably say 'get out'.

Now - take that response and deal it with the other case.

If one then why not the other.

I wont lie - Dakka isn't Warseer or Heresy Online.

But CH products were forbidden and banned on those sites.

Dakka and bartertown is the only two places that house the products.
To my knowledge.

Unless we want to get the C&D letter just like Vassal 40k.

Who recieved the IP infringement statement for having merely drawn replications of 40k products.

OTOH, RogueMarket is banned on Btown but allowed on Dakka, so what's your point?

I'm not a product, that is recasted and mass distributed for turn profit.

Claiming that i'm an originally made.

The CH product was banned on those places - not any CH account(s).

If the account never uses DakkaDakka for another 3 months (no, occasional use just makes you look worse no doubt) their is reason to believe them.

IF NOT on the other hand, MODS take this thread down and stop the dispute... PERIOD.

Game over, have fun.

If you take this down - then are we hiding the fact that recasting is done?

There i no dispute - i'm not killing people's heads off.

Nobody is killing me.

This topic is about - recasting - and it being illegal.

But people posting and nit picking what i'm saying - some are relevant - which is ok.

som arent relevant - their posts should be removed.

I'm contributing to the OP - but showing the growth in trends of recasting world of 40k.

Its a growing factor - as you said GW does have expensive products which causes this trend to happen.

Agreed.

Back on topic - Resin comes in many colors, grey, white, and even green.

I also encountered a yellowish resin - i still got the the duped item - got it from a trade but the guy ran off.

It was suppose to be a GW earthshaker emplacement.

It had bubles too.

I'll try to get pics and show - as i got a full DKOK army -the resin is rainbowy ( not really just has some variety)
