That's English history, not British history. England became feudal dictatorship just before the year 1000. Britain didn't exist until the signing of the Articles of Union circa 1700, prior (not significantly prior, but still prior) to which the Bill of Rights had established England as a Constitutional Monarchy.

@Frazzled: Well, that was more due to the fact that Queen Victoria couldn't get over the death of her dear hubby and did diddly squat all. If there had been a more active monarch then the monarchy would still have a bit of say.
