They really shouldn't punish legitimate customers just because it got pirated.

You honestly don't see anything wrong with having to rebuy a program just for a patch?

About time they updated the software.
Even though I've been using it for 2 years, I still think the GUI is poor.
That's my personal opinion btw

I'm a customer because I don't think the "punishment" to which you refer is particularly onerous and it exists for a legitimate reason.

I'm still under the original terms, so I haven't had to make that decision yet. If my subscription weren't current, I might want to actually contact the developers to find out the expected time frame for other updates.

However, the practice of only providing updates for a fixed period after purchase is not an invention of Lone Wolf development.

You had a single example of poor customer service. Big deal, it happens, and it's not a common occurence with Wolf's Lair. Anyways, still waiting for an example of anything actually shady or dodgy.

If it is so horrifically evil, then why hasn't some bored chap cracked it yet? I am honestly, if everyone hates it so much, surely there is some bored and pissed ex-customer of them that could provide a crack or workaround to allow full use.

Also, about the shady/dodgy part mentioned earlier, I am pretty sure the gentlemen ahead explained it, but since no one is reading, he referred to the "Back Payment" type of license updating. The only way I can relate this, is look at Windows. You are currently using Windows 98 SE and wanting to upgrade to Windows 7. Since your 98SE license has expired, you either have to pay for Windows 7 new at $299.99 or pay for each copy of Windows up to 7 for $275.50. Since you didn't use nor need Windows Millenium Edition, 2k, XP, or Vista, why in the hell should you have to pay for them? Basically they offer a small incentive to keep license going but only if you really have the money to burn, otherwise just buy every MAJOR update (2.0, 3.0, 4.0, etc).

If it came down to spending money, a pen and paper is like $1 versus $50 for software.

The internet is a wonderful place.

Anyone who has this p.o.v. isn't reading the licensing agreement thoroughly.
Once you buy the program, it's yours. You do not need to pay the licensing fee every year.
Repeat: DO NOT.
If you don't pay for the licensing fee, all you lose out on is the ability to auto-download file updates. You visit their site & download them manually.
That's it.
That's the functionality you lose.

I've gone through TWO updates, myself, since my license ran out. Haven't had a single problem.

Eric

I like it and use it a lot. As my son and I both play and we have a computer each the two licences for the price of one is good value. My only problem at the moment is I am unable to install 3.2b even though I have downloaded it several times. Any ideas? (I am running windows 7). Cheers
