I think they make great games and they are, sadly, on a huge decline. Less and less people showing up for tournaments, less tournaments in general, pulling back services they used to provide (bitz orders, GW Canada), etc.
I might have a different point of veiw because of my position.
-Bitz I miss, but understand the costs involved, and the rate at which they were increasing.
-
GW canada is just part of
GW NA now. Less local control, but some things improved immensly.
-I haven't seen less people at tournaments, just the opposite. That's going to be a local veiwpoint. Also not seeing less tournaments in general. And the next two years will have a huge explosion of indy
GT tournaments backed by support of
GW, in NA at least.
-Trade sales in NA is vastly better than at other times in the past 2 decades. Trade sales accounts are on the increase.
-Financials for the last year were a huge improvement, with better profits and retired debt.
On the flip side, worry about your local gaming store. Industry wide,
FLGS are hurting, and there is a steady decline of stores. If next year mirros the last 12 months, expect another 10-30% of them close.
GW can afford to run stores at a loss, and independent can't do that. A few losing months they are hurting badly.
I'm quite looking forward to next week and getting a nice boost from Space Hulk to help pay the rent.)
