I don't know where you're getting that from, because I spend a lot of time with this stuff and I don't see anything approaching agreement on the matter. There's certainly a consensus within certain ideological camps (particularly amongst Neocoservatives and Neoliberals), but that's hardly the same as broad agreement.

Economic indicator? Leading indicator maybe, but it has nothing to do with economics. Either way, the its possible for a state to be both Republican and Autocratic. There's no reason the role played by the people has to be significant in order for the classification to apply.
Its a turn of phrase I use. Not literal "economic"
Again we'll have to agree to disagree. You can't be Republican when you kill and imprison the opposition.

A theory of international relations that claims state should be interested in absolute gains, as opposed to relative gains. Basically, it follows the axiom that power is irrelevant insofar as the quality of life within the state is high. Cairnius seems like a Neoliberal based on his comments in this thread and elsewhere.

Thats a new one to me. Learn something every day (but in my case forgotten within 68 seconds, old age sucks)
