How is it bad? You afraid they'll try to break down the wall? I guess the Berlin Wall came crumbling down so it's possible unless said wall was 3' of titanium reinforced with concrete and electrified to put out 300,000V at 2,000Amps.

Oh, I'm probably stepping into sensitive ground here. I'm shocked you aren't trying to argue with me over EO.

By all means I invite you to learn English.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

That said, languages are funny. I'm not a linguistics person, so I can't say much for the notion of being a polyglot, but I can say that the majority of English speakers do not understand the word they choose to use.

Illegal immigration allows employers to keep low scale salaries artificially low. The inner city has 40%-50% unemployment at this rate. How are you going to employ them when you have hard working illegals willing to work harder, cheaper?

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Labor cost around 10-15 dollars an hour around here (may sound like a lot, but it is really insubstantial for this area), and I simply cannot ask for more than 15 an hour in most situations because of it. If I had my way, I would be asking for at least 20 dollars an hour for anything I do, but the fact remains, if I overbid that means I am likely to not get any work at all. Another problem with this is when I can find bigger jobs for myself, I prefer to hire my friends automatically, even if they are not as efficient as the migrant laborers; who come with an entirely different set of problems. Hiring my friends, I have to pay them a fair wage, and in doing so, I end up making less than them in most occasions.

When it comes to a big construction company, it is only obvious why they would prefer to hire immigrants at a lower cost. I know I can run a very tight ship, and compete very effectively with companies like that, mostly by overworking myself and crew to be honest. The main problem is that the way the construction industry works, you usually cannot get licensed without around 5 years of experience under a licensed professional in that same field. This means that I cannot get work at these companies, and I cannot get a license through my own experience and training (school, various work, etc... basically the same thing I would get from a company). I really do not have a solution for this besides becoming a licensed landscape architect, in essence crawling out of the rat race, at least to some degree.

I do not mind college, but when I think about what I would rather be doing, and how much money/effort I will end up sinking into this after transferring; I do get pretty pissed off. Hopefully, there really will be a boom of "green-jobs" soon, which would be fortunate for me and many of my friends.

Self-made people, are simply mythical creatures now, to be able to accomplish something like that, you have to have ridiculous people skills.

No. I chose to learn spanish because I wanted to, not because I had to.

QFT. I live in Oakland, CA. I sometimes feel that, as a white male, I am in the minority.
But, I have never HAD to speak Spanish to get fast food. Ever. Even at my favorite taquería.
