go meh yourself and this tactic is unbeatable, in one game of all v all my stealth suits took out a landraider several leman russ batttle tanks, 2 squads of space marines, 1 squad of necron immortals and 2 squads of imperial guard and they still survived for the end of the game.

@Shas'o vera:

No need to get personal.
Attack the arguement not the poster.

Secondly you are throwing around 'unbeatable' that alone IMO invalidates whatever tactic you are trying to explain.
Your comment about your stealth suits vs all those things really doesn't add anything to your point...

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

"unbeatable"

I Don't play tau, but- AP 1-2 and str 8+ weapons are the bane of the poor ol' plague marine

@Jihallah:

Yea... so?
Those kinds of weapons are NOT in the majority for a Tau army.

Broadsides and Hammerheads are wasted on PMs so I won't go into that.

So to get Plasma Rifles and Fusion Blasters the options are:

Crisis Suits for the 2 kinds of weapons.
Stealth Suits for the Fusion.

Certainly you can spam those units, but they are not without their issues.

Those two 'anti-plague marine' weapons have maximum output at the 12" mark, a 'flirting with danger range' even with the assault move.

In addition, you'll have to rely on markerlights to knock down the most likely cover saves the plagues will have/make/take.

You need to hit, you can suppliment this with Markerlights and Twinlinked features, but all that costs points...lots of it to remove the plague marine.

The fusion is essentially a melta... we know it does heaps well.
But the Plasma Rifle is NOT a plasma gun. Plague marines actually take Plasma Rifle fire BETTER than plasma gun fire.

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be wounded on 3's by Tau, than wounded on 2's by other armies...

And then there is the cost.

A crisis suit with just the plasma is 45 points, and then there's the other two lots...lets say it's the Helios pattern.

62 points for Multi-Tracker, Plasma Rifle, Fuison gun...that's a pretty penny.
Lets say you get a single shot at over 24" and the 3 shots in close range in one shooting phase.

2 hits. Lets say they both wound on 2's... 10/6 wounds... assuming no cover. So 1-2. If there was cover 0.5 to 1.

It's not bad...but not great. What about defense... you get a squad of 3...then the leader is the only one who can get shield drones to mitigate the ranged damage Chaos can do to the Tau.

You know what, I don't wanna get this deep. I've striked everything that really doesn't need repeating.

Well i did mention i don't play Tau, my knowledge of the arsenal is rather limited (although a bit better now). That feels a bit harsh =\

I guess the best option would be to keep the PM's at arms length as long as possible. Popping rhino's asap would be a priority, but i can't really think of a tau tarpit to throw at them...

Sorry if I sound harsh, i'm just being really clear about the situation as the suggestion is pretty straight-forward, but not something Tau can rely on.
Maybe I should have not used '@ you' but instead threw it out there in general.

Yes, take out rhinos...then focus fire...and pray to the dice gods.

The only tarpits I've seen are inefficient for points.
Crisis Suits with Shield Drones up the Wazoo...

plasma...lots and lots of plasma... oh...and more plasma....gun drones of fish for screens to slow them down.. throw a fish in as a road block at an opportune time when you need that extra 1-2 wound punch getting thru from the rapid fire from a small squad of FWs. sometimes things dying is for the greater good..lol oh and more plasma.. no need twin linking, take a squad or 2 of pathfinders, hijack their fish and give them to the FWs.. boost BS by 1-2. strip cover.
